I'm guilty of writing speeches n and out of combat, and I must say, sometimes, it kills you. However, if you think yourself capable of doing so, then go for it, it if you don't, don't go for it. It's a really odd thing, speaking in combat, and it really depends on both parties to be fair and considerate towards the other...
Also, Dab is right, I spit insults and engage in political debates. Strangely enough, I like the political debates...
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.

Yes, Police or Navy characters usually have a message requesting that a Trader stop for a cargo scan, so that the Trader is still in range when the message is sent.
Traders sometimes use that command to easily hail a ship orbiting a station/planet where they intend to dock before typing a message requesting permission.

I assume "auto messaging" refers to the /setmsg commands to make pre-recorded chat messages...
I used to use them for basic things like "Engaging target" "form on me" "break formation and open fire" "they're too strong, fall back out of hostile fire range", etc. etc.
I've found myself using them less and less often though, since it's a bit difficult to remember which number means what, and I type fast enough to do most of those messages in a couple seconds anyway.
However, I do plan on setting some of those up for 4.85 when I'm flying my carrier - things like "All hands to battlestations, launch fighters!" and "Recall all fighters and get us out of here", just as simple fleet messages and such.
In the Benitez, I'm notorious for being able to type while in the midst of a battle. While schooling hte opponent.:)Its easy when you get the hang of it, you just need to type with one hand while dodging/shooting with the other.
"Freelancer Alpha dash niner, this is Freeport 7 control, You are cleared for departure. Good luck out there."
Soldato Zavier Benitez, Benitez flight instructor.
I have a small selection of setmsg's on all my chars that mimic the reponses NPC's give you when you Hail them during combat
"Fight now, talk later"
"Quit hailing me, I'm in combat here"
"Cant this wait till I'm not in combat?"
I usualy spam one of them if anyone says anything to me in a fight. Dodge around for a bit and if they repond with somthing else then they are wanting to talk not fight. If they stay silent then it usualy means they are trying to screw you over.

' Wrote:Yours was not the episode that prompted this--was several others who were quite intentional and they are the ones. It was obvious after that you hadn't thought about it at the time--nor were you using multiple supernovas on me or complaining about my rp which was what I was addressing. Once again, this isn't about you and its not me that's overreacting :/ (and note the compliment that includes you at the beginning of the post)
It also wasn't a "revenge" posting. I wanted to bring this up so it got addressed in public--not for my own personal satisfaction. I haven't mentioned a single name of anyone who has done this or implied who they were. The point was to simply point out the bad sportsmanship side of it so that it might cause a few to reconsider.
The other affirming comments are an added bonus in this regards--makes it pretty clear that this isn't an acceptable tactic by most people which is good to see. My absolute point though is simply that being a bad sport on any level is no fun for anyone here.
I had no idea it was premeditated to the point of auto messaging--sheesh--good to know it ain't just me.
heh, i didnt get all the way down to the last paragraph in the first post, my fault I guess =P
It was hard enough chasing you through minor with nomad and bhg npcs chewing us up, I wasnt about to follow you into alaska and get stomped by some liberty cruiser =)
