I have a long standing history of having no fear of metagamers and would still post anyways. Let em read and try. I know not to have any fear because this community can be ruthless and a metagamer won't stand a chance when revealed.
I'm not too concerned with Metagaming, as most of the people who would use it maliciously are people I wouldn't nominally be dealing with anyway. Though for the same of immersion and the nature of most of the RP I do, secrets need to be kept.
For anything it would be game-breaking for people to know, I usually simply handle it over Skype or (preferably) Ingame. Considering the nature of a web of covert intelligence agencies and spies and whatnot, it's as much a part of RP immersion for those we deal with then if it was all known upfront, so generally, only a few key leaders know what's going on OORPly.
Of course, leaks and revelations are also powerful tools to get a story motivated. Give a tidbit of information for other factions to act on, thus spurring interaction.
In that sense, a modest amount of metagaming is necessary for a faction to know when and where to act to get something going, Especially intelligence agencies or nomad types. While abusing it and using it to one's advantage or otherwise doing something retarded or malicious with it is obviously not kosher, but knowing where to look for a relevant RP to one's players or faction is important.
Every time you non-food things (people?) make a good thread and stick it in flood, ten puppies lose their mother and accelerate to light speed while crying, and cry for all eternity.
