why would you use a huntress anyway? That ship is horrible! The first time you try flying through an asteroid field in it you'll wish you hadnt spent the money.
Instead of bashing his ideas, how about something constructive other than: "The Huntress sucks, don't fly it?"
Angelfire, I think that the Corsairs would be interested in establishing diplomatic relations with other factions, and frankly, I think the Huntress is the perfect ship to do it in.
It is essentially the same armored car you see in so many conspiracy thillers. It appears to be well armed, but upon close examination, its really full of holes and glitches. It's a perfect target.
On the plus side, as you said yourself, it is pretty. Why wouldn't a diplomat want to fly a pretty shape? After all, power doesn't just impress, its a show of supposed power and majesty that impresses.
The Huntress would be perfect for diplomatic purposes.

Im fairly sure the Huntress is getting replaced with the Harvy Cruiser in 85 if it ever gets released. Ive flown a huntress, its pretty, the Nomies will eat it if you sit still long enough, but you can trash any NPC (Wilde Guard and Phantoms excluded) with little issues. The Info card said it is sometimes sold to a rich Freelancer, but the FL ID wont let you use anything over a GB. I'd say as long as you stick to Corsair/Order ZOI you'll be fine. That pretty much opens up the entire Southern and Eastern most areas of the map with a little bit of leeway to enter Bretonia and of course Reinland to beat up on the Hessians. Corsair ID/IFF is what I used.
