' Wrote:The Cardamine/Slave route for instance, 30-40 minutes and you can make 25mil with a Pirate Transport. A Pirate Train would bring in about 35+mil. With a pirate train, thats 70mil an hour. Mining is rather.. crappy honestly. I can just go into the Taus, buy Niobz, and sell it to Manhattan and make more money trading than mining. The Silver fields (Colorado) seem to only drop one silver at a time now. A full load of Helium on a mining ship is like 1.25mil.. and it takes forever to mine.
Yes ... quite familiar with that route ... and I've got others. But mining would not be crappy if it was profitable. If its been nerfed ... then an entire role play option is out the window.

What was nerfed was the Niobium glitch which was, in fact, making it arguably more profitable to mine than to trade, which of course hits the pirates where it hurts most, the bank. Nobody moving cargo, nobody to pirate. The Niobium field itself wasn't terribly too profitable, but it was the only one there, and it's much harder to pirate someone in a system where there are 20+ other ships, all mining, who have brought their capital ships and bombers and gunboats incase pirates show up, they can switch characters and all go out to the field in their fighters. How do you pirate something like that. If there were more fields where mining was profitable, it wouldn't be an issue, but had it gone on much longer, it would have gotten really bloody AND oorp.
