Well , no wonder it keeps getting fried then. Try to clear out some room so you can place it somewhere better.

Ventilation in a cabinet is very low, and dust collects, the bane of the Xbox. Get a hoover or vacuum cleaner as the Dutch in America call it and suck that dust right out of there.

I put my Xbox on top of my TV horizontally, dangerous, but I got nowhere else and I can't be bothered to move it. Also, the brick I need to move, but never bother to move it... or turn it right off since the plugs are very hidden...

Anyway, cabinets are a no-no.

Yeah, cabinets = Don't. Period. I got my xbox standing on a small closet below the TV. I even took the top of the thing off for ventilation. (That and else the cooler wouldnt fit..Weird. ) Seems to work great realy. The thing never gets hot.

Wow, I actually followed the article's instructions, you know the one I posted last page.

I moved things round, put the Xbox to a vertical position next to my TV, I twisted the SCART and HD cables, not only does it make it shorter, but its makes it less likely to break. I managed to prop up my Xbox on two small carboard boxes, I better find something else just in case. While it still wobbles a little, but only if you hit it, so I better make something or crack open my big box of Lego buried in my junk.

I even Hoover'd or vacuumed the Xbox and the power brick, while there wasn't much dust, since I fired it up earlier, it sounds a bit quieter. Which makes me happy and hopeful. I even managed to move the extension so I can actually unplug the darn power brick to take it off standby. Longer life, energy efficient.

I think I've accomplished a fair bit in 30 minutes.:)

I have an Elite, I want it to last since its only got 6 months warranty left due to its pre-owned'ness.

Also, I never knew there was a USB port in the back by the Ethernet port, that makes my Play and Charge kit fit in lovely back there.

3rd 360 for me. First only took a month to ring of death. Second lasted around 7 months, and now we've got a one of those fan units that stick to the back of the 360. Hopefully it'll last a bit longer than the last lot.

First 360, had it since Christmas and it hasn't died yet. Think I'd better vacuum it out though, seeing as my house has serious dust issues.

For the Core.

Honestly, if you could combine the quality of work that Sony puts into their consoles, with the quality of work that Microsoft puts into their servers/online services... Things would be perfect.
