And as for your comment on that.. I am listening, I'm just not taking your opinion and ditching my own. I am a Man and as a Man I make my own opinions and have my own views. I'm sorry if I don't simply break down and praise you for your view or whatever it is you believe I should do. I am my own person and I believe what it is I believe. I do want people to have fun and we are fair when we play.
Hm.
Maybe it's a misunderstanding. I haven't been thinking clearly these past weeks.
(I'm still leaving those posts so it doesn't look like I'm trying to cover something up)
Sorry. Let's try this again.
Likely misunderstandings aside, there are still some issues here.

I hope I don't need to say what's objectionable about this attitude.
Quote:I come here to play, to have fun with my free time. If that trader doesn't like being a target, maybe he shouldn't play a moving target. If fairness is that big a deal, log right now and don't come back. No game will ever be completely fair, and neither will life. You have to learn to deal with it, to build a thicker skin, and take the shots as they come like I do.
Traders are basically the lifeblood of the server. No one likes being a "target", but traders are essential for keeping the game going. Not just because of money - look at a system like Newcastle. How many pirates are active there? Almost none. Why? Becuase there's no traders there. A lack of traders is enough to kill a system, to kill a house. So, this attitude towards "moving targets" is still rather distressing.
(even as someone whose only transports are a pirate freighter and a mining ship that never sees pirates)
Quote:I'm for realism, not fairness. I don't think anyone thought it was fair when Germany conquered a lot of Europe and murdered thousands if not millions of innocent lives. I don't think anyone would think it was fair how Rome treated outsiders they conquered. And I don't think anyone would agree that the way Rodney King got the crap beat out of him on the pavement by a gang of cops. Any of that fair? No. It's life though. Life isn't always fair. And neither is what happens in games either.
This justification here, I think, is part of where the misunderstanding stems from, as it implies that you'd fully support sending four fighters and three gunships after two Corsair fighters, just because something like that could happen in real life.
Traders do make the server go round'. I've said that countless times in Freelancer discussions. Even here on this server just the other day on some subject. If i wasn't lazy at 1am after working all day I'd go find the post and link you to it. Traders make us all employed basically. I pirate them, others protect them, the cycle goes on and on.
I admit the realism vs fairness was a bad simile btw. I guess what I was trying to convey is that it is not outside the realm of a pirate's role play to kill another person.

Does Newcastle have any viable trade routes in it?
Yes, traders are the life-blood on this server. Without their presence everything goes. When we pirate traders, our demands are reasonable. (Yes we have had incidents where we have ended up pirating suppliers of OC's, yes, we had one bad one where we pirated a credit-less low-level trader with no cargo. Bad form, and we will work on that. New players still getting used to things.)
We will not be asking a cargo-less trader for two million, if his level is low. We will however be expecting to get something out of the encounter. A turret, a little cash. Some nice RP. From what I hear, the asked for credits and got a drab response of "no money". They asked him to ask a friend. No response. They blew him up.
We would support realism. That does not mean attacking Gamma with over 9000 ships or invading Liberty with ten dreadnoughts, but it does mean bulking up when our homeland is under attack. (The incident which you may or may not be referring to resulted as a breakdown of communication, since someone told the GB's to stay out.)
I will handle the responses from now on. Venom needs sleep.

Wasn't asking why there weren't traders there, just pointing out that the lack of traders is why there's no pirates there for the sake of the rest of my argument and damn this is a long sentence.
But, as said before (here and in another thread), I've made a bit of an ass out of myself here and I think the bulk of the argument was the result of a misunderstanding.
Hello again!
I'm not sure if I won't repeat what someone said already, because honestly, I have not read all the new posts here, but as I've promised, I stalked you a bit (Ok, ok, I don't think that's exactly what you wanted... but... that's just me and "I'll be watching" ... *sigh* Spy once, spy forever)...
Well, I think you should get all your people together, make sure everyone reads trough the faction documements, understands them, and Outcasts as a whole as well.
No names said, no flame meant, but it seems there are big differences in your people, someone looks like good and experienced RPer, while someone other makes a rather... confusing, unpleasant things.
So, all in all, you surely have all my thumbs up for the documents, they are good, you mean it and that's also good, we don't need another "funky" OC faction, but I can clearly see that is not what you want the faction to be.
Other part is , well, what I saw personally. All I will say is that the experience was both good and bad. I know it's impossible to directly control everyone with your tag, but, I recommend to watch it closely as possible, because, as I know very well, especially before the faction becomes official and "stabilised" even one bad guy can spoil the whole image, let alone it can even ruin whole request.
That's all for now I guess... Hope I'm not scary and annoying.
I'll... continue watching your progress.
I buy things I don't want to make an impression on people I don't like.

So, I'm bowing out of this one, too.
Understood.
No problems.
Come back if you need anything else clarified.

If you could PM me SS that would be muchly appreciated.
We do not want any rotten eggs or apples to spoil everything for us. (However, we are more than willing to help people improve their RP.)

Wow, what a way to alienate people. why would I ever want to interact with you guys if I'm going to be treated like crap?
And yes, Newcastle has some very nice trade routes.

First: Its not a clan, its a faction.
Second: Many people here are in multiple factions, there is no problem at all with that.

That is the kind of attitude that could create problems to your faction, on forum attitude is important. Doing that just give you a bad rep and since you are representing the ESS, it gives a bad rep to the ESS.
Having an attitude like that, like the "RP >>>>fairness, even if the RP is really not fair", the "Lawfuls arent doing their jobs", the "Whiners are little crying babies" will just get you labeled as a jerk, its that simple. And let me say that the be nice and I will be nice with you is something that is often applied.
