' Wrote:More often than not my LRs encounters with the Navy or Police end without PvP. But if I didn't run away, then you can't possibly expect the RP not to end in PvP. The fact is when opposing roles meet, they're not just going to let their foes walk away.
I can't expect any RP I have with a Vigilantee on my LR to end in anything less than PvP, because that would be against what vigilantees are about. The more interesting RP involves two roles who are not opposing forces meet.
There are many RP opportunities with people who are not your enemies also. So if you're sick of your RP always ending in PvP, try roleplaying more ofte with your allies or people who you are not enemies with. Because if you go seeking RP from your enemies, then you are also inadvertantly seeking PvP. Which, believe it or not, is also a part of your RP interaction with them.
Of course, the most satisfying RP to me are ones that could have ended in PvP but didn't.
i agree with every word. the better safer "pvp free" would be with your allies.
when you RPing with an enemy you can usually find yourself in a PVP stuation, even if you dont want to PVP.
@MythicalKaos - There is no AI IFF, Guardian is AI ID'ed, its an LSF Weapons Development Project, it has the restrictions of the LPI ID so therefore its LPI Tagged. I direct you here : http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=38007 towards Xoria's post regarding the AI ID Requests.
@Jimmy_Patterson - /signed, would it kill people to let a fleeing combatant...flee? instead of TCDing so they can continue competing for the blue line?
@swift - My response to you can be found in the Poll.
@Balthazzar - Guardian is not entirely sentient, special RP was approved for it, I didnt just go lolzing about and bought the AI Drone ship and pack on 2 Magma Hammers back when it was in a Guardian VHF. Instead, I got in touch with a few people, got a few things planned, and awaited approval for everything requested. So I don't see why youd be able to call me a powerplayer.
Where does the Starfly Battleship come in, either my memory fails me or that line was a tad random. Lastly, I don't care in what way you have fun. Im merely pointing out the disappointment in seeing the majority of RP that I run in to end in blue messages.
Now for a little additional information on where the idea to put Guardian in an AI Drone. It comes courtesy of the Harvesters themselves. A little parade they did cruising through Alaska to enter New York and from what I can recall, attack Liberty Lawfuls who were already under attack from a Hacker Spyglass "Libertine" who was being repaired by a Zoner Repair Ship "Supply". Which a server crash later followed.
Which was all put into the newest roleplay post for Krusa / Guardian.059. So thank yourselves for that one. (Sure, that could be considered powerplaying but hell, it ran off of actual events ingame... so again, thank yourselves, I know I do)
Balthazzar, there is RP in the works to make Guardian.059 what you so highly consider more fitting of an AI Drone, a fully sentient and self maintaining drone. You'll find what was submitted and approved in your PM box as your well, so adamant about the AI Drone's use.
"I do what makes sense in the particular situation."
For me, RP and PvP are not exclusive, and are really the same thing.
If by PvP you mean fight that has reasons behind it, and not "random fight for the sake of a fight.
If you ask me, whoever just talks, and does not fight, when the traits of the character and circumstances of the situation dictate it, is in the wrong, and whoever fights when there is no cause, is also just as wrong.
Conclusion: Common Sense.

There is a difference between Situational Response and Personal Preference
RP and PVP are in no way the same thing. By PvP I mean any type of PVP.
Including such PVP that has absolutely no reason behind it other than a blue message or a victory count.
And your the third to basically suggest that RP is only directed at those who can be pvp'ed at the time.

And yeah, I do know that there are players around who just want to fight, and don't care if it actually makes sense to do so. Most of them you won't find here. But yes, there are a lot of those, and on a bad day I can effectively claim that this isn't an RP server at all.
However, doing this ain't gonna help any further than curing a bit of your own frustration.
As for your last sentence, I don't think that I in any way said that RP happens only to enable a fight. I really do not remember that at all.
As my tirade went, it was common sense that was the ticket winner.
If I'm a trader, and there's a pirate around, I'm sure gonna hit the road and try to escape, and if that fails only then try to weasel out of it by talking him up, or by giving into his demands.
I ain't gonna stop next to him to have some RP, because that'd actually not be reasonably in-RP.
I do however RP with anyone when the situation allows, so yes I do RP with traders, on my lawful characters too, and yes I do RP with just about anyone when I see some potential for something more interesting than:
My char: Hail, there!
The other char: Hail
My char: How's it going about, I hear * are a profitable thing to haul these days.
*silence*
Tootles.

Kiretsu staged a 'sit-in' in New Tokyo the other day.. KNF came by.. Corsairs came by (O.o).. The Emperor of Kusari talked with us.. Then we flew home. No PvP. All RP.
We've had other RP situations that didn't end in PvP, and I've had plenty of them in other factions as well.
If you wish for non-PvP RP.. Stay out of Delta, Alaska, and Liberty. Sad to say, but true. It happens rarely in those locations.
I concur, unfortunately most of my RP without PVP has occured in Gallia with my Character Red Dragon.
Saying that as a Corsair I have had some good RP without any PVP in and around the Omega's. Generally when the other player is quite inventive in there reasons for being in Omega 5 etc. Secret missions, delivering cargo for various reasons etc. Very enjoyable, better than. 'I am a corsair, pay me or die'. No offence I have several Corsair characters who are blood thirsty rogues, but now and again I like to interact and spice things up!!

Your motives may be good, your actions may be legal and approved, but it still doesn't make it right in my eyes. I have read your "intro", realized I made a few errors while explaining why I consider this irritating.
Call me an elitist, but I have my own strong point of view of what the AI drone is and how it should be used.
I didn't pull my opinion out of nowhere, it came as a result of lots of research (mainly gathering people's opinions) and I came to love the concept as it was, but seeing that it has been severely altered and admins taking individual opinions for granted (and approved) I feel that the whole thing is a big mistake. I don't plan on changing your opinion... it would be seriously stupid if I did since its already approved. We're both entitled to our own opinion so let it be, I'll remain irritated by it and you can freely proceed with your concept.
Besides, I like to spend more time in-game and less time protesting on the forums.
