exactly, but the prototype itself was zoner, meaning the zoners were the ones who have the plans to start. Why would they not use a design that clearly works?
cause theirs works better "for them". - in RP, it wouldn t take a genius to attach another 4 turrets on the conference. - as i said, you see 2 more hardpoints - and they could easily attach another two.
but they decided that it was more beneficial for them to allow more cargospace, more armour and a LOT more agility instead of firepower. ( oh - and the twin mines - which some gunboats would love to have i bet )
i mean - you get a quick refire 50.000 shield buster that costs no energy to drop .... thats quite godlike in the most agile gunboat in the game.
Well, can we get one with 6 turrets and no mines then? because the conference really doesent match up to most enemys we face, and the mines half the time come back to bite you in the backside (litteraly)
quite easy - it has 400.000 energe ( small core ) - you can equip 1 pulse turret, 1 missile turret and 2 razor turrets, 2 screamer mines.
2 screamer mines can do 50.000 shield dam and cost you no energy to drop ( at least nothing you notice ) - the twin razor can do a lot of hull damage. - your agility makes it possible to manouver around a hathor - but due to the size, you will still get hit a lot.
if the hathor is anti-GB, too, you have little chance... but if the hathor is an allround GB and you have the mentioned loadout, you have a good chance.

Ok, so it is not meant to fight, but to run? But then why calling it a gunboat instead of a super heavy armoured transport?
When trying to enforce the NFZ, diplomacy is indeed a Zoners greatest asset - and yes I successfully got pilots to silently move away the moment I undocked with the Treecat (the first one - Conference class), but if diplomacy fails (like when i.e. Nomads or Wilde attack or threaten a Freeport), then the Zoners have to roll out cruisers, destroyers or battleships along with fighters and bombers... but as good as no conference gunboats as they have little use.
So if there is a combat situation, Zoners are missing an offensive gunboat. True a double screamer will wreck havoc on anyone's shield, but if you fight against fighters or bombers, how often will they get caught in that?
I see the Conference as an 'ultra deluxe armoured transport' with only a little more cargospace than the dromedary in relation to it's cost, and the Zoners missing a gunboat.
Bretonian gb, main gun, 7 turrs. Rogue gb, 6 turrs, bhg gunship 6 turrs, orca, 6 turrs and main gun, lib gb, 7 turrs and main gun, corsair gb, 8 guns Scorp gb, 6 guns, etc.. every other gb has MORE guns and amor than it does. if its going to be a transport, at least give us a ship with cargo worth the role its intended. currently its weaker than any other gb in the mod. Now, we arent asking for a 12 gun ship, we just want a ship that can stand up on its own and at least defend itself. 4 guns really doesent even do as much damage output as some mid range transports, never mind other gunboats.
