Would the NPCs form on the carrier on question?

As I fly a Carrier myself, and issue would be the closeness of the formed ships make the carrier turn into something comparable to a building in an earthquake crossed with a washing spin machine.

If this would be implimented then the NPCS would have to be a reasonable distance to avoid constantly ramming the carrier and spining it at over 9000 RPM.

im with you on that, when people use formation on you they ram you due to your size.
you wouldnt be able to move in the carrier if a bunch of npc's formed up on.

Doesnt this already happen ingame?
And that not just for Carriers?

Just out of confusion....

If there comes a Liberty Navy NPC patrol along my way, it happens they group up with my Dreadnought; and then stay with me until they get shot down.
They even return into formation after some attacking enemy NPCs were destroyed.

Happened in .84 and also now in .85
Well, happens in .85 less as there are not always everywhere enough NPCs around.

But, that is what you asked for with that Carrier-ID, right?

i think it would be cool if a limited number of players could "dock" with the carrier and then "undock" when it is time to fight. This would be limited to say, 15, VHFs/bombers.

the reason it's happening with your dreadnaught is that those npc's are trying to scan your cargo, but are just out of range due to the size of your ship. At least, that's how it was explained by one of the developers before - it only happens with larger ships in the game, and only with ships that will attempt to scan you.
