So yes, it is possible.


I would like to point out that this means nothing, as the person who did this didn't actually do anything other then re-assign already existing hardpoints to the cargo doors.


That and keep in mind that folding wings were intended to be used when landing.


EDIT: Something just occurred to me, how do the animations on the stationary NPC mining ships and the m_base station sections work? Because both of them have constant animations, same with jump gates.

I disagree Seth. There could be other triggers. The folks over at the Starport have high hopes about finding another trigger.

In any case, yes it can be done for every ship in existence.
Currently we can only do it via dumping cargo, though I'd swear someone managed it other ways.

There's another with an Imperial Shuttle but basically, you get the idea.

It can be done for every ship.

If it can be done for landing it would solve alot of model's problems with going through the floor when they land.

Also if it could somehow, someway be made to show a shuttle-craft style model landing when a gunboat or larger class docks to a planet... that would also be cool. thats another idea entirely however.

If this works, I can see potential applications for the (hopefully) new Wraith....

Carlos Benitez suggested the shuttle idea a while ago, and people threw it out for too much work for too little gain. I thought it was a cool idea though...

yes they pulled it off, but its eject-cargo linked. I say we get a nuke and threaten microsoft for the source code. :crazy:

There may be other triggers, but none have been found. Apologies for being vague.

ANY ship can be animated, it's done via the UTF editor, and is very possible. Most of the vanilla ships have animations already built in (As do gun barrels, rotating etc) but they were never activated.

Triggers have been looked for, but at the moment none have been found.

What about this? Couldn't people just poke around in the base files that control the roatating donuts on some stations? Even if they couldn't be toggled on or off, constant movement would be cool for radar dishes or other stuff like that.
