that's what's good about cargo pirates, they get the loot either way (though some is lost when the ship blows)
but saying 'just kill me' is OoRP

imagine being mugged and the guy tells you to give him your wallet, and you say just kill me, it's not worth it

you don't respawn irl.

I could be mistaken.. but I believe that's exactly his point.

I don't really see how, "just kill me, it's not worth it", can be used for games in which you respawn, since you'll be able to go back and do whatever you were just doing.

The answer to all your questions are right here:

As for the answer to this question, if you die you lose everything not nailed down. Though sometimes it does glitch and you respawn with your ammo and cargo, but that's only happened to me once or twice, and only when I've sundived after winning a fight.

In real life you don't get pirated as much. I get pirated once every 3 or 4 runs on average, IRL if you get pirated once in your lifetime its already... unlucky.

So if you want to make this 'realistic', then the number of pirates has to decrease to just one or two, and the number of traders increase by 10x, and this brings us back to my thread on realistic distances and planet sizes...

In real life, we're not spaceship pilots.

Just someone can say that, who has not hard worked for his money. A bit surprised that answer came from a Junker anyways.:P

Ehh.

In RP you arn't supposed to know you will respawn, you will die so at least trying to run away would do much better for you.

Well, what can I say? Sirius is pretty rough. If you don't have the balls for it, don't fly there. If your life is threatened, try to preserve it. You can run, you can fight, you can plead ... or you can submit to the demands. Your life is at stake, after all.

This is a role-playing game, therefore you should role-play. I know that's a hard concept for you, but you should try it once.

I try to do that for reasonable people. In Rl if you get pirated game over. But it happens so rarely. Here its commonplace it should be just like paying a gangster protection money.

You don't seem to realize, that it is very much exactly THIS reality, that your character lives in. In THIS reality on the server, from the eyes of the character, piracy is a frequent sight, and the dangers in open space are more numerous that accidents in the household. This comes along with the fact, that this server is an RP server. Roleplaying always has to do something with imagination, always has to be bound to rules that were created (look at any Pen&Paper RPG) thus it never can be as "real" as the reality we live in ourselfs. On a live-action roleplay with said special weaponry, you imagine these weapons and armor to be real. You imagine the damage you receive to be real and lethal. You imagine in Freelancer that the sizes are the way they are.
Sirius is reality for the character you created, and you play a human, and a human only has one life by default.

The wiki said;
Quote:If you get caught by pirates and are begging for your life, it helps to have some consistent RP reason to live. Often, good role playing will get you out of trouble and as I said before, good role players respect good role players, not rules mongers who scream that they're going to report everyone to the Admins.

Also I've read something in one of the "must read" postings, that surviving the explosion of your ship in the escape pod should be player accordingly. You are in shock, and you are in a state of "phew, that was way too close". I just can't find the section on the fly now.

To hunt the prey is life,
to lose the prey is death,
to hunt the loss is insane...
