The event is now over. All normal rules are in force, including the re-engagement one.

A full review based on comments posted here will be undertaken before we start our next one.

Roleplay reports are invited...check the Stories sub-forum.
I like the premise, but it's a total lulling PVPWhorefest in Leeds, with minimal roleplay.
And well, seeing as it's not even happening where it's supposed to, I can't help but think people are using this as a chance for a quick kill.
Though, it almost as if this was the idea from the beginning...
I was part of some cool RP on the Bretonian side. RP wasn't really a problem, as it was hard to RP mid-combat but there were a lot of cool inRP taunts, etc. before, after, and some in the middle.
Balance... what kind of person pits Mk1s from two diff. factions against each other? They're obviously not balanced. What seemed to happen was that more people went with the better ships, the Dragons. As a result, the Bretonians, outnumbered and in shoddy ships, were blasted to bits.
suspending certain rules... maybe re-engagement rules only. The rest are extremely important.

Well at the very least keep the re-engagement rule... Dying and then coming back twenty seconds later will do nothing helpful, apart from prolong the battle.
Which is good in some respects, but completely ooRP.
uhmm no, dont keep the re-engagement rule. At the very least have a 6 minute rule so kusaris/bretonians can go in a wave instead of individualy. This will bring more teamwork.
Also. This event is PURE Win, we need more of these

I thought that in general, it was pure fail. While it was indeed lulzy to just get mass-ganked and blown up by the Kusari, after a while having NO chance whatsoever got really boring.
edit: At one point, before the mass-gank at Leeds itself, I had organized three other pilots (Don_something-or-other, Bristol_Cobblesocks and Stephanus.Vesuvius I think were their names) and we all went in a wave to Stokes. No one was there and we had it to ourselves. We scouted LD-14 and the Tau gate. Then a bunch of Dragons appeared at Stokes, and we all got killed.

Without the re-engagement rule being dropped, it would have been "Kusari kills Bretonia, we're done here" in a matter of minutes. Being able to go back again and again loosened things up a lot. I had a blast.
However, the point has been raised about the Crusader being a turd... but that can be fixed as well as the loadout standardization in one fell swoop.
You know how NPCs have copies of a ship? Well, if I'm not mistaken, you can make a copy of the Crusader with different stats, and more precisely matches the intended loadout.
The biggest problem, however, was how all the b/b and ordinance ended up on one side or the other. When the Dragons have mines and the Crusaders don't, things tend to swing pretty consistently. Making special weapons that aren't sold anywhere but come on the ship (I think you can even make them hard-mounted so they don't appear on the equipment screen, I think this is how some Star Wars mods do hundred-gun capships) that have ammo that costs 0 credits would work. Though /restart'ing every time is another workaround that didn't occur to me.
Get the ships used on par with each other, and get some workaround for the b/b and stuff all ending up on one side, and it'll be perfect. The other people in the system either knew what was up or just say "underlevel" and didn't do anything stupid, and it was kinda fun to see the KNF decide "we have momentum! CHARGE THE GUNBOAT! BANZAAAAAI!".
As for RP, that felt more like a war than the pitched battle events. It really did. A constant struggle for ground, lost or gained in a single slip. Absolutely brilliant. We did tons of chatting, if you got shot while talking- who cares? Just hit respawn and charge back in!
As you can tell, I loved it even with the problems that came up. I'll be on the lookout for more of these, absolute blast this was...
