Wonderful- 4 player factions receive new ships- 2 of them with "invite only" recruitment type.
The others just don't deserve new ships. Especially civilians and sadly the ugly homeworld things stay in game.
DarkStriker made few awesome ships- where are they?Why tthe nice unioner GB is not included?Why the corsair battleship-Procurator by Curios is not included?

again - modellers prefer to make ships for factions they :
- have nice ideas / concepts for
- are asked ( nicely ) to make ships for
- are involved in the factions themselves ( meaning, they have a good idea of what is appreciated etc. )
modellers ignore factions that are:
- generally underrepresented
- they simply dislike for one reason or another
the above reasons apply to my reasons - others may have other reasons.
in general - first thing to be done is :
- to make the modellers aware of the NEED for replacements - and not just a general call for assistance, but a specific one - if you say "someone please make a ship" - no one will feel particularly addressed, if you talk to someone specificly - you can state reasons - and he/she can state reasons for or against new ships.
- come up with a detailed concept of how ships ought to be - and be open minded for what the modeller says is possibe / will look good or bad - cause many modellers know their skills better than others - know what they can do and what they cannot do - they know what they can try and what will most probably look totally stupid.
- make sure that the faction really CAN get new ships. - no one likes to work for nothing. - so when lets say .... bundschuh asked for a battleship. chances that its included are almot nonexistant.
but in general - a modeller can only make models when he knows that a model is required and when he has an idea. - when a modeller doesn t do a model doesn t mean its spiteful or that there have to be personal reasons against it - it can also be that a modeller simply has no idea how a ship ought to look like - or what the faction is about. - so don t be disappointed when you re rejected with your request.
additionally - modelling is also a matter of liking or disliking a faction. - when you dislike a faction - its harder to make a good model for it, cause you re prejudice. - some people can work around such an issue ( which is professionalism ) others cannot.
then there are the increased submission restrictions. - they can scare people away - others however feel challenged. - depends on the person.
whats also detrimental is - when you present a concept design - and ppl say "but X already works on this concept" - if you say that, you should be 100% sure that X really works on the concept and finishes / uploads it - cause if he won t do it, the modeller that just presented his concept has just stopped - cause of what you said - cause where s the point making a model when X is already on the case.
( for example - ppl said that someone was already covering the renzu line and the ki and other homeworld ships. - so i have of course not worked on them anymore - so when it now turns out that whoever was mentioned is not submitting anymore - renzu and other civi homeworld designs simply get no update at all, cause everyone thought the other modeller had it covered - so only spread information you re certain about )

I really don't want to flame/rage here. I just ask because it is interesting for me to know.The submitted ships-types shows something bad called "elitism". Such is bad for the community- I have nothing more to say.

I must agree with 100% Jinx about the modeller role especially with the professionalism part My concerns are about people/factions who do contribute to the community and do it in a great way but don't get new stuff becouse they have no professional modeller in their ranks.
His homeword replacements were awesome- it is sad that they are gone.

to whoever complains about their factions not getting any ships i have one thing to say...
Instead of going around finding different modelers to build you ships, why don't you ask some of our usual modelers? At least they know how to bring projects up to standards and put models in game. There are many people who can model, but when things get technical progress stops. That is why most models showed here don't end up in game.
Find modeler who can do all what is needed, doesn't need army of people to help him with various things, one who is persistent enough to bring project to the end...
Otherwise you'll end up with half finished product...
All above works if faction actually need or could use ship that is modeled...
