There's only one value for energy damage which
- drains shields if they are there
- drains powerplant if shields are down
You mean something with ~50-100k shield damage?
Quote:3: Ooh that sounds good, are they 'infinite' supply or limited? If infinite, unsure if they should be really powerful, if limited, let them be powerful; they'd need to be used conservatively.
Infinite, but with the current energy and refire it would take very long to fire many of them.
Quote:4: As for light fighters intercepting torpedoes, its very difficult to do so while dodging fire and finding the specific target from nowhere. Yes, CD's can intercept them, the torpedoes I wish to see should have some sort of durability against them. Two, three CD's tops, one is just easy once its launched. There are too many factors. Like CM's, agility and CD's, too much against the torpedoes.
Well you answer yourself a bit there.... it's very difficult to find the missile and target it, then cding it is easy.
Problem with bigger hitbox/durability is that bs/cruisers etc could then easily destroy them with 1 salvo.
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.
True true, but that would take the firepower away from their main targets to a point, so torpedoes could also be used as a magnet for fire.
You either take the torpedo, or divert power in hopes of shooting it down.
If LF's focus on taking down the torpedoes, they'd be relegated to the support role, an awkward task but a worthwhile one. That is until they run out of CD's, then they'd have to try and harass bombers and VHF's and the like.
While I think LF's would be very suited to this role, would it be taken up?
If LFs are getting the modified Cruise Engine, then they are better suited to an interceptor role in combat, as they can get over to the target much faster - fast enough to get closer and use their guns?
It would be another job that LFs can take up (other ships can as well - but LFs would be that much better at it).
' Wrote:They can do that now with Novas as well as cruiser and bs missiles. They need to target the torp (by clicking on it) and then firing a CD at it.
That would be great if people used novas. But people don't use Novas, because why would they? It's so much easier to use the infinite-ammo torp that cannot be intercepted, the SNAC.
"Things will not calm down, Daniel Jackson. They will, in fact, calm up."
People do actually use novas. Just not as shield busters. I've even seen people use novas versus snubs, (Successfully), but I guess that takes a lot of skill...
Good luck CD'in a nova or BS missile.. even 1k behind firing in a straight line with a mosquito (so it wont overshoot it) wont even dent the HP of a BS/Nova torp....

You need to select (by clicking) the torpedo itself in space. If you then fire a cd it will explode the torpedo or bs/cruiser missile.

Sure, Light fighters would be great at this, if they had more CD's than everything else, maybe 2 CD slots, 1 for trains to stop large ships, and 1 for mosquitos to stop mines/torps.
