I'm not a developer, but yes. Unfortunately, the extended intro is canon and Earth is no more in Discovery. Complete rubbish in my opinion, but there you go.
People reference earth like its some old myth. Some one said Harry Houdini, and someone didn't know who he was. I explained he was a old earth myth that could escape anything. I think things like this work.
There may have been research and astronomers tasked to look for Sol's star, and maybe even a military probe branch to try and ascertain the Coalition's status covertly. I'd imagine they'd still have some reservations.
But this is hundreds of years in the future where the present populace deem Earth as a memory long lost.
But in the old Vanilla lore that didn't get in the game, the developers (FL not Disco) had a general or something, flew to planet Manhattan from the Sol system. The sole survivor of the human race in Sol. He eventually got there and warned the government of the aliens that destroyed the sun and Earth, aka The Nomads.
But the fact was buried, deemed to dangerous. Also Valhalla, a Dom'Ka'Vosh library was on Manhattan, the Nomad's builders. So all knowledge of the Nomads was suppressed, until the events leading up to the Nomad Wars.
Like I said before, high tier government and Navy research officials may know the true story behind Sol and her destruction, maybe even The Order. But there is little evidence in the current lore.
Seriously guys, the thread is about that section of the wiki, NOT THE INTRO! It's a question of if that knowledge from the wiki is canon, or some clerical error forgot to move it.
Edit: Fletch, good analysis there.
I am [The_Angels]Mortis. If you need help regarding the rules, the game, or just need someone to talk to, feel free to contact me on skype or PM me.
At the rest:
Igiss has declared the extended intro canon.
Of course, it doesn't make sense in the Freelancer we know - it wasn't included with the game because it didn't fit. Trying to fit it in now obviously breeds problems with story and continuity. (If it isn't in the game, it's not in for a reason. You can't just call "Microsoft budget cut!" and slap something back in without thinking, or things don't make sense. Like this.)
