This thread sucks. Either post solutions about bomber balance that do not include "revert it to how it was", discuss the posted solution or don't post anything. Refuse to stick to this guideline, and I am locking it. Next three posts seal the deal.
Have I ever said that I love Discovery. Have done. I enjoy every adjustment to ships because each time presents a new set of challenges and opportunities.
The key thing with bombers - how to make it so that escorts can do their job - ie destroy bombers before they get to destroy the caps. Such a tricky thing - balance. So many factors.
Maybe a damage buff to fighter weapons, especially the class 8's. That would make Light Fighters true interceptors.

It's the regens that keep the bombers in space so long, not the weapons. As an average bomber can fully regen it's hull 2.65 times. If it was lowered.. 15 - 25% reduced. I'm sure fighters will find it easier to take one down.

yea i personally really like the changes to the bomber. i think its a really good idea. the only thing is that fighters are still kinda weak to me. i mean, i tried to take this challege someone posted waaaaaaay back. it was something along the lines of being LPI in the tiny light fighter they have. well i was bored with liberty so i went out to kusari and am trying to be a KSP officer in a wyrm and it can get a lil frustrating. you just cant do enough damage to make the manuverability. eventually you make a mistake and get hit hard with those big guns. i think if they could make some guns for light fighters like they just did for bombers that were really fast and actually did damage then wed have some good balance.
Gunboats finally serve a purpose as anti-fighter and bomber platforms. Bombers serve as an effective anti-capital ship weapon, provided they have support. Me and a Switchblade (I was in a Falcata) took down a cruiser.
