an OORP pvp system is used for storage purposes, and for settling out of character fights and problems.

As such, house based ones would be interestng, but pointless.

I'm sure theres a flhook command that can be made to move you to a isolated system for pvp, like lets say you're on new berlin, but the reason why it was there is because back then, there was hardly any flhook commands.

As it stands now, Theres a reason for the system being there. And the reason why there isnt ease of access form the major houses is to prevent people from abusing them for private gain (such as trading).

Its the only place you can sit and relax wihtout having to rp or play your role. the last place to have fun with little to no rules.

I don't see any fit purpose for it at all. This is a roleplay server, we don't need a PvP system. I understand the need for people to get out of the RP sometimes or to engage in training, but it has no values within RP. If I see somebody come out of that hole then I can only pretend that they do not exist as I cannot possibly have an answer within RP (I could be imaginative, but logic gets in the way, I mean it's already bad enough having to claim that somebody "cloaked").

What would be better is a command that can beam people in and out of a closed system. It would be suitable if no player file changes would ever be made whilst in that system (which means that when somebody dies, they return to where the left and will have to reissue the command if they wish to go back). Naturally, one would have to be docked for the commands to work in order to prevent abuse.

Another thing that annoys me about Connecticut is the sheer amount of kill messages showing up when it's populated. I have resorted to disabling non-system reports because of this, which means that I cannot keep tabs on events within the house that I am in.

roleplay or not, freelancer is mainly an arcade style pvp game. beat it round the bush whichever way you like, its only here that we enforce RP priority over PVP, but that does not mean we should kill off conneticut, a place where people can enjoy fights without fear of being sanctioned (unless they're generally arses ofcourse).

the thing that is -really- annoying is the fact that an outcast would have to fly from alpha to NY to get to conneticut, or a sair from gamma to connecticut, or a gallic valor from gallia to conneticut. would be best if there was a 1 way jumphole in each major house's system that leads to conneticut, but 1 exit hole that will drop you off anywhere in either Galileo, kepler, hudson, bering, magellan or cortez.

which again brings the problem of people abusing this to get a short ride through conn to get a "rp free trip" and a shorter one at that.

I still say flhook mostl iekly can get something added. If not, deal with the trip and make a friend along the way.

EDIT: an example of how the command could work is, player is on one of the major planets (New Berlin, Manhatten, etc), and types in the command /movetopvpsystem. FLHook then records for that session where they were, and they fight. Then, the player types /returnto "..." where "..." is the planet they were on. FLhook reads what it recorded, and verifys thats where they were and allows it.

It sounds simple and I know the coding is bad, but its a example and a better one than adding jumphoels that would be abused

I remember Freeworlds had a interesting way of doing it.

They basically setup bases to house every ship in the mod (there was like 107 if I'm not mistaken, maybe more), and base one has pvp tokens that ytou sold for tons of cash at pvp base 2.

The system was a one way jumphole in, and characters there were required to use the [PvP]tag.

Before you say "well, people then can flhook the cash out" you could potentially disable flhook commands for a system, right? Also, you dont even need ot make jumpholes, just use the restart command, only you type in /Restart PVP

So far as the outside is concerned, there has to be reasoning when it comes to RP. Just because somebody is en-route to or returning from Connecticut, that does not mean everybody else has to stop role-playing for them. In fact, by the letter of the law anybody that is heading to Connecticut must still oblige to any reasonable RP that is directed towards them. Sportsmanship is certainly most welcome, but that doesn't mean gamesmanship is not allowed.

Nothing quirks me more than allowing an Order capital ship to stroll across Liberty. When there are multiple Liberty capital ships following it there can be a lot of confusion and a breakdown in communications when somebody tries to pull rank to say that the vessel is not to be engaged (because it wasn't hostile, it was returning from Connecticut). A few individuals may be able to pull it off but not an entire fleet of independent capital ships, especially not in Liberty of all places.

It would make sense to remove the hole altogether and have commands that can change the base at which the player is docked at. As long as the player file is either locked during or reinstated after, it cannot be abused.
