With exception for the OC's and sairs, where you're born into it, other factions would recruit people from other factions InRP. These people would bring tech, cash, knowledge or something else with them. [HF] is a good example to how it would be. They have Hacker-, Rogue-, OC- and LN-tech. And that's where their members came from too.

Unless you're the first one who gets ganked! :D

but better make capital ships real capital ships.
something with 10x more armour, 10x bigger firepower, but without cruise engines for example and 10 x slower ...
that make from them flying fortress as they should be, but too slow to hunt something ...
I like this idea! More armor... Absolutely! I don't think more firepower is necessary, but their ability to defend themselves aginst snubs should be improved. If you had a Solariser in 4.85, it meant that no snubs, survived very long inside that bubble. That's what it's like in a RL battlegroup. Difference is that other ships provide this protection. It's very hard to coordinate that many people In-game, so the caps should have this ability themselves. As it is now, two bombers will take out a lonely BS with ease. You can even solo a BS if you have a bomber that's powerful enough, and has the right setup.

The most fun is when you have a healthy mix of caps, GB's and snubs.
Every faction has evolved since vanilla. Look at the lane hackers. Do they even have a colonized planet? (On a side note, do the LH still have that Spyglass battleship? The wiki redirects to a HL ship) I think every faction should have at least a gunboat at some point. Even, eventually, the Freelancers who are starting to become a faction in their own right.
But then my perspective is mostly limited to what goes on in southern Sirius, so grain of salt +1.
Also, from a player perspective, fighters bombers and even GBs are -cheap-. Aside from armor upgrades, capital ships, and maybe codenames, there's not a lot in the mod that one has to save up money for. Maybe this will change with the coming of player stations?

The Spyglass was never truly a Hacker ship. The first people to develop the RP which explained its existence were the HF, and it's been ours ever since then. (In short, it was the Osiris' sister ship, meant to support it in fleet combat.)
On a technical note, the Spyglass evolved into the Arbiter, so mod-wise the model was replaced by one of our own design. Thus, the old Spyglass is gone from the mod.
InRP, the LH~ faction had a single Spyglass, but we since recaptured that ship.
(All the indie Hacker Spyglasses which appeared at the end of 4.85 due to some inspired liberal gestures never existed inRP.)
Capships don't make sense among many Disco factions.
Capships improve Disco's gameplay and bring more people into it.
Capfleet battles are DEFINITELY MORE FUN then fighter battles. At least for many people out there.
Since in these fights you can really feel the payback for the great collective, organized work, not just individual skill of a player. Capfights are more about cooperation and tactics, then skill.
' Wrote:No I know - from what I hear they are made of crap:-) Also the hessians weren't really the main point and you didn't really respond to the central aspect of what was written - you never really told me what planets have the orbiting stations you were going on about. I can only really recall that Daumann thing in O11, but I am not really sure that us supposed to be in orbit.
I asked you about them, my point was that the pirates have no income in raw material of any kind. And the Hessians are EX-miners who fight fro freedom and a dout you will see one of them mining something different than diamonds(to earn some credits for food ofc).
+I think that the capships for pirates should be removed or limited. Or why not give the pirates chance to have lawful battleships, like the BSs were hijacked or the crew and captain deserted the house navy.
Make battleships really expensive and harder to get or put a license on the BSs.

Join the Hellfire Legion.
Edit: Expect to get nerfed just the same as if you didn't join a long-standing official faction with a history of these ships, though.

this; but caps should be vulnerable if they're without their support fleet
