Abandon the class 6 bomber weapons, instead go with fighter torp slots as bomber forward guns and class 5 turrets.

rebalance the "fighter torpedo" energy weapon fire rates to find a happy medium to work as both a slower firing fighter heavy cannon, and bomber main gun. (in such a way so they can't down a fighter shield in one hit, even with 4 mounted on a bomber)

for this example the 2 "Mini" weapons use the bomber weapons stats, however, they have a slower refire rate with higher damage per shot than current bomber weapons, thus maintaining the same damage per second. I would have their cost the same as the respective namesakes (mini pulse would cost the same as the mini razor)

now sadly this would nerf the mini razor and inferno by about 50% in respective damage per second, and the mini razor would also lose it's long range, but gain power efficiency. IMO it would be unavoidable since one of the reasons behind the torpedo split was to prevent a bomber from mounting both a mini razor (or inferno) and a SNAC. (since either can bring down a fighter shield with 1 hit)

I would have added something to the ship ID box so if its a Freelancer IFF,Pirate ID,then you know its a pirate...not a pirate maskarading as a innocent Freelancer.

You forgot about what would happen with fighters vs all the other classes maybe? The "balance" we have would get way worse, 2 fighters are enough to kill a not so skilled gunboat captain, can you imagine what those two fighters would do with doubled damage?

Decreasing the number of nanobots on fighters and bombers would be a better solution imho.

How player controlled "crew manned" ships (i.e. capitals) can only target/fire in one direction. (read: where the player points)

Needless to say, I wonder what the crew is doing...?

larger battleships (about the seize of the badlands - the small ones) with 300 beam weapons and a shield only able to be downed by another BS or 200 bombers. Yes...that would be cool:cool:

Id like to see SNAC range reduced so bombers actually have to enter a bs range. having a fighter gun outrange a cannon the size of the ship is just plain silly and an unblockable unlimited ammo light mortar on a fighter hull is just plain stupid to begin with really...
