I am playing the guitar for a total of 3 years now. In my first 6 months I got classic acoustic lessons. Because I was performing bad at school I decided to stop the lessons. But I didn't stop playing guitar. I kept playing on my Yamaha C40 for 2 years and finally my parents allowed me to buy an electric guitar. I chose for an Epiphone SG model because it suited my playing style. In that time I only played Rock 'n Roll. For some reason I discovered a website called www.justinguitar.com and it was completely free and I learned a lot there. I got introduced to blues and love it.
A few months after the purchase of my SG it gave a lot of problems. I restringed the guitar and from the same moment it started buzzing all over the place. I highered the bridge a bit but it didn't do the job either. I went back to the store and they we're almost angry about the fact I modified the bridge.
I turned out the woman who became a bit pissed of didn't knew anything about guitars. After a repair that costed me 20 euros the buzz was still there. I went back to the store, they fixed it, I came back home and it was buzzing again.
I went to the local guitar guru and he took a look at my guitar. It seemed that my neck had this shape: ~ .
I went back to the store, again, and they decided to send it to the importer and see what he could do about it.
After a month we heard that I could get a brand new SG, but it would take another 2 months before it could be shipped because they didn't have any SG's around.
The store said I could choose for either a new SG or a brand new guitar for the same price. I could add some extra money to this to buy myself a beautiful guitar. But this is the point where the story stops.
I will choose for buying a new guitar but I just don't know which one. The only thing I want is:
-A Fender
-Between 700 and 900 euros
-It should have an amazing clean sound, pretty important when you play bluesy/jazzy like stuff
-It should still be able to handle a bit of gain.
There are a few guitars that caught my eye but I don't know if the store is able to order them for me:
-Fender Stratocaster American Special (Bit cheaper but hey, it is American made)
-Fender Stratocaster Classic Player 60's (I heard these are quite good)
-Fender Jaguar Classic Player Special (I haven't played on one but it sounds really good clean and is able to handle a bit of gain.
Do you have any suggestions?
So, yeah, I play the guitar but I thought it would be fun to tell you this story.
<span style="font-size:10pt;line-height:100%]Hmm don't know what the fuss about the strat is. I owned a Fender strat but it didn't quite suit me, so I sold it and bought Ibanez RG-350DX and after selling my soul to the devil I got another one as well - ESP EX. Now I am content :ylove::ylove:
I started late in life, I've been playing almost 6 years. I've got a Fender acoustic and a Yamaha acoustic/electric I play with a Behringer acoustic amp. I love them. I play a lot of simple rock and classic rock. I love them both. A few months ago I borrowed a mandolin from my brother so now I'm playing around with that as well.
I play about 11 years now. ONLY elecric guitar (still the same model - Yamaha) and for most of the time I played only METAL... Death, black, new-metal, hardcore, all this stuff...;)
About year ago I started jamming again with my old drummer, and I felt I need to change something in my sound. So I bought LINE 6 FLOOR POD PLUS, which gave me a lot od diffrent sounds and weird effects, so now my music has about 30% of heavy riffs and about 70% of some soft rock stuff, weird noises, trip hop, psychodelic, etc...;)
If we'll record ANYTHING, I'll be happy to show you my stuff. For now, we try to get some bass player to our little band, and we're constantly working on new tracks.
P.S. If any of you will have some questions about this Line 6 device, simply PM me and I'll be glad to help. It's great multi-effect for electric guitar, over 120 diffrent sounds (including many overdrives). It helped me a lot to open my mind, and stop playing METAL all the time:P
On the note of Line 6, the bass player I work with a lot plays one of these running through this. It makes for some really interesting noises, and kinda opens a lot of avenues. Fun times.
