Nothing, actually. Funnily enough none of my 50 or so characters depend on
mining in any way. Well, except for a Hegemon that I've recently inherited
but never used. Mining just isn't (wasn't?) my thing.
Even though I don't have any specific roleplay tied to either mining or my mining characters (an ALG ship stationed in New London and a Kruger ship that mines in Omega-7), I would lose roughly 60 million credits in ships and my main source of earning money, and trading makes my soul bleed. For me, it would make this game even more infuriating to make money in.
I would lose the excellent interactions I've had while mining for trading vessels on my IMG character (those interactions include RP with the traders AND pirates we would encounter). I would also lose a promising game mechanic that added a whole new layer of player interaction to the economy. In a game that essentially has a fixed economy, anything that adds new layers to market interactions is a good thing (even if it still requires some tweaking).
