Quote:For 4.86 all freighters got about 30 extra bbs, more armor (mostly 9k) and faster cruise speed (395 m/s is starting value for beta testing).

All this was done last summer actually.
Wow:mellow:

There will be a lot of explosion in the asteroid fields with that ... but I'm gonna love it if the devs tweak it to THAT number :ylove:

I think freighters are already overpowered, they are cargo ships, not war ships. And they already have the best shields and lots of regens.

Freighters are fine as is. You want an extremely heavy freighter? Try the Pelican, it has all the things you list. But is rated a "light transport".

Simple. Use bases like those "Molly/Rogue Destroyer" ones in New London and New York. Bases without a transport moor so only things that can dock as a fighter can moor there.

Huh, simple indeed. And really simple to implement. That'd be good.

There are ways to exploit it, like transport + freighter going there and then frighter selling all the cargo from transport, but why call it exploit if you can call this a teamwork.

make ammo take up cargo space and raise the universal ammo limit to something ridiculous. Instant missile corvette =p

Freighters aren't that bad in combat but they are disadvantaged, as they should be. They are cargo haulers after all.

When I look at combat freighters like Grizzly, I just shake my head in shame. That thing is supposed to be a pseudo-bomber, yet it barely has enough hull more than a VHF and mediocre powerplant at best.

When I look at the Grizzly, I shake my head in awe, because unless you haven't noticed, that thing has a 165 nanobot/battery capacity, two CM launchers and it can mount and fire 8 magma hammers. It's a ship that you use to fend off Outcast Tridents successfully, however a couple of them can easily slaughter a gunboat or two. The only drawback is that it has a crappy cargo space. And that it's bomber food.

There are two types of freighters, those with crappy stats and more cargo, and those with better stats and crappy cargo. I think the latter ones could get a boost, since there's not much point in calling it a 'freighter' if has only thrice the cargo size of a bomber.
