No objects are selectable without using map

Since the Omicroners left Sirius several years ago (mainly related to the recent dev post about people ruining others experience, which is too little too late - but i digress), I haven't been online much.
I did install the last update. But after that, when i started playing, i couldn't select any objects in space, but somehow after a few minutes i WAS able to select them.

Today during the time of this post, I am logged in. I can't select ANY major object. Not planets, not stations, not stars... I am only able to select the major objects from the MAP.
i asked another long time player about this and he had no idea. He suggested the last installation of the last update may have corrupted something. Maybe i'm missing something since i haven't looked at the forums for a very long time.
Has anybody else had this issue? if so, how do i fix? (other than uninstalling and reinstalling of course, which would be a last resort.

Discovery Scanner has 0 radar and 0 scan range. Or something like that.

Just get any other scanner.
