So, I've been trying to figure this out. When I try to burn a disc in iTunes, it says 'Disc Burner or Software Not Found' in its little status box. When I try to add .mp3s to Nero for burning it crashes. Now, there's obviously a disc drive there, and it works for everything else, but I can't burn CDs, which is Not Good.
The computer in question is an Alienware M15X, which means it's equipped with a removable Optiarc AD-7590-A that can be popped out of the side and replaced with some other magical device (ATA Grenade launcher, anyone?)
Help. This is aggravating D:

Nope, the basic model doesn't run Bluray, you had to pay X amount of moniez that I was more concerned with spending on the processor.
And the ASPI didn't work, for the record, it would seem by the 'unsupported OS' sign that it doesn't like Vista.
And it will physically burn files to a disc; the issue is it won't burn Audio CDs at all. iTunes chokes on it, it outright crashes Nero, and I can't seem to find one with WinAmp (which I dislike anyways).

I have found in the past that if iTunes doesn't like something, many other programs designed to do the same function will stop working to be in with the cool kids. Get rid of it and see if it mysteriously starts working >.>"
Maybe just coincidences, maybe just Apple trying to keep the money in the family. Again.
