Albert McKenzie, Starfliers To: Administration, Omicron Supply Industries Subject: Training
Hello, my name is Albert McKenzie. Lead of the Starfliers.
I would like to hire your facilities for our pilots to undergo strenuous transport training. Looking over your public information doesn't list if this particular service is available.
We have been flying "Albatross"-Class ships for a few years now and looking to enable expansion. Will you be able to assist in this kind of training?
To: Albert McKenzie, Starfliers Subject: Re: Training
Hello Albert,
Thank you for reaching out. Your request is certainly an interesting one, and I appreciate the clarity with which you've presented it. While we don’t publicly list strenuous transport training as one of our core services, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s off the table.
This is something I’ll need to review internally with both our legal department and our board. We're always keen on the exchange of knowledge, but given the nature of OSI's operations and our commitment to confidentiality, it’s a matter we must consider carefully. That said—I’m not shutting the door. I believe sharing is caring, and the Starfliers’ reputation for excellence in navigation and exploration carries weight.
However, knowing your team has the ability to jump pretty much anywhere, I’ll need to have a few more details before bringing this forward for proper consideration. It would help greatly if you could elaborate a bit more on what you mean by "strenuous transport training." Specifically:
What type of training are you seeking—technical, situational, endurance-based, or a combination?
What kind of training have your pilots already undergone?
What are your goals for this next phase of training—skills, certifications, or specific scenarios?
Are there particular environments or ship systems you'd like the training to simulate?
The more context you can provide, the better I can assess how (and if) OSI can support your needs.
Albert McKenzie, Starfliers To: Bartholomew Kelsomagus, Omicron Supply Industries Subject: Training
Hello, Bartholomew.
It is good to get confirmation of the possibility of training. I use the word "strenuous" as the level of training I wish to organize is significant to us. Our operational standards are extremely specific, expanding on this will only help us grow and develop.
Regretfully, we have lost the ability to be able to jump anywhere. Our former flagship, the Velorum, was lost in the seige of Inverness some months ago. We have recovered and still continue to do our work despite this loss. But I digress, I shall address the questions you have brought up, as this will tailor the training modules well to our teams. I do appreciate a good list so this does help me help you help us.
Combination.
Various, though our teams primarily fly Light Fighters and the "Albatross"-Class as per our operational standards. Would like to ensure everyone is on the same level in terms of flight training.
To be able to confidently operate all snub craft variants and logistic vessels with cargo of 3,600 units. Specifically the Border & Edge Worlds Technologies. Civilian is not necessary.
Simulating an asteroid field similar to the one within Tau-23's with a minutely increased density should provide an adequate basis for avoidance maneuver practice, if this is a component of the training.
In addition to the above, to have a certificate provided to us reflecting the results of the training.
I can provide further specifics if the information in this message is not enough.

Hello Albert,
Thank you for your thoughtful and thorough reply. I appreciate the clarity you've provided, and I’m sorry to hear about the loss of the Velorum. It’s commendable that the Starfliers continue to carry forward with purpose and resolve.
I'm pleased to let you know that OSI is ready to host your pilots for the proposed training. You and your team are cleared to report to Nichols’ Trade Station in Omega-48 on Monday, the 28th of April.
We have prepared training slots for eight pilots. The ratio of transports to escorts is at your discretion, though as you anticipated, our program will primarily focus on transport operations. The training will span four days, covering the following:
Navigation through dense regions (asteroid field simulation)
Cargo loadout optimization and efficiency
Crew resource management principles and application
Transport-escort coordination and inflight communication drills
OSI will supply several instructors along with a gunboat and a frigate to simulate scenarios involving potential hostile encounters. Please note there will be no live combat simulations, but around 60% of the training will occur outside of the classroom, with the majority conducted in space.
The crew at Nichols is informed and will be ready for your arrival. Docking bays are cleared and mooring points have been reserved accordingly.
Now, on to the matter of cost. Our accounting department has finalized the numbers. The full training fee is set at 25 million SC, which includes fuel, lodging, and all instruction costs. We kindly ask that a downpayment of 5 million SC be made to OSI-Bank.Deposits ahead of your arrival. The remainder will be invoiced upon successful completion of the program.
Should you require certification upon completion, rest assured—we will provide a formal document reflecting the outcome of the training for your records.
If you have any further specifics, feel free to forward them. We’re looking forward to working with you and your pilots.

Hello, Bartholomew.
Omega-48 System, Nichols’ Trade Station, 28th. Done. I will not be attending as I have other arrangements, though the training will have no benefit to me regardless. This means the total trainee count is 16. Convenient to do it in two equal groups, separate sessions. The listed preparations appear to be quite significant, I trust that your modules are extensive and will provide the degree of knowledge and training I expect. Your deposit has been wired over to your chosen account. I will inform my pilots about the date, time and location.
In regards to the certificate, I will open access to our Documents & Records Server to you, with enough permissions to publish the certificate only. This way we can host the original document on our end if that is no issue.
To: Albert McKenzie, Starfliers Subject: Re: Deposit Wired
Hello Albert,
Sorry for the late reply but when you hear the reason you’ll be happy.
It took me a few days and I had to pull some strings here and there, but being my age I do know which strings to pull. More specifically, I know the seasoned pilots and cargo crews at OSI.
Long story short, we’ve got extra trainers to train all your crew in one big swoop. This would benefit your crew as they can learn from each other in training, as well as both you and us save time.
Now it’s a real bummer that you can’t be there with us but I know the burden of command. Let’s do a review of this training when it’s over and when you have the time.
Albert McKenzie, Starfliers To: Bartholomew Kelsomagus, Omicron Supply Industries Subject: Extra Hands
Hello, Bartholomew.
The arrangement for two groups to get trained in a staggered fashion works out well for us. Reason being in case we require a team for a project, someone is available. I do apologize, we aren't able to get all pilots into the same room at once. If your string pulling means it enhances the sessions as a whole, then all I can assume is that the effort was not for nothing.
Both groups have been informed about the training for tomorrow and the first has already departed for Omega-48. Your dockmaster onboard Nichols’ Trade Station should expect them in the next few hours.
A post-training review isn't necessary, the results via the certificate will inform me adequately of the degree of success.
To: Albert McKenzie, Starfliers Subject: Re: Extra hands
Hello Albert,
Totally understandable. We'll take good care of the first group and you can contact the planning department at a later time to schedule the second training.
Albert McKenzie, Starfliers To: Bartholomew Kelsomagus, Omicron Supply Industries Subject: Second Team
Hello, Bartholomew.
The second group has been extremely impatient, most of them have expressed their displeasure of flying small transports. You may find them a lot more excited and ready to undergo this training module when they arrive.
I shall wait for the final results. At times like this, it is exciting to wait for the outcome.
To: Albert McKenzie Subject: OSI training completion
Good day Albert,
Just a quick message to let you know your crew have passed the training and the certificate has been uploaded to your NeuralNet account.
After four long days of training I will be joining the rest of the instructors in a small celebration and after-training event we hosted for all those who participated. Suffice to say, we all had a blast with this training and it certainly paved the way for a follow up with the rest of your team.
