some factions have really good guns, and chose to use them insted of missiles. and most factions discourage people form using more then one missile on their ship. but i normaly mount a missile on my fighters.

The RM encourages its members to use guns for several reasons: improve the aiming, prevent missile spamming and kinda factionising with using our own guns.

The social aspect: nobody really likes missile spammers and all aces rely on their guns. Furthermore all missile spammers are pretty harmless against fighters with mounted CDs.

Missles are good I admit, but most people use their faction specific weapons
as far as I know there is really no rule to mounting all missiles on your ship, but if you focus on missiles you start to get problems

Missiles can be easily delt with in most cases...CM or CD, but you become very ammo dependent

codenames are high powered guns, some better than faction guns, but nowadays they are mostly there for pretty lights comming out of your ship

I use a cannonball missile on my Titan and my Scimitar, they pack a decent punch and you can confuse your target if you alternate between hitting them with CDs and cannonballs...but not spam, never spam the missiles, you'll only get people pissed off at you.

Or want to mix it up? Try torpedoes, I want to see more people with those things (I have a starkiller on Geordi's collector, works really well....though thinking of switching to a sunslayer cause it's yellow like the my weapon effects)

There is no 'rules' against missiles, it is just that missile-spammers are a pretty hated bunch, and missiles are useless if you know how to beat them (CDs, dodging etc).

Come to think of it, i only own 4 missiles among all 15 of my chars, and they are all on my gunboats.

Its down to personal choice, and skill.

I keep one missile on me almost at all times with my ships. A well placed missiles on their sub-systems can be debilitating.

Missiles just aren't too useful. One Cannonball or Paralyzer can be very useful during jousting combat, but missiles never are big damage-dealers. That's what your guns are.

True, it takes skill to use missiles outside of jousting.

Missiles can come in quite handy if you know how to use them in the right time. I'm poor aim and without them wouldn't make it out there...

the path to hell is paved with good intentions!

don't forget about sub-targeting

missiles are the only effective tool to use against subsystems...guns can't do anything to them really, they're too hard to hit on a fighter...maybe guns can hit a battleship turret

but if you want to knock that thruster off that bothersome Manta or Titan, sun-target it and fire a few cannonballs or sidewinders

then he's in trouble
