I'm surprised there are no beam weapons yet. Possibility to make some? Also, about rapid fire flak guns that deal AOE damage?

Also, about missiles. As in missile turrets. How exactly do they work? Are they homing?

Beam weapons have been brought up and shot down numerous times.

As for missile turrets...Turrets are basically just normal guns that use a larger model and use a different mount type.

While being quite funny, your sig was the biggest one i've ever seen so far. No more than 700x250 please. ~utrack

Just on the note of flaks, you can already get BS flak guns, they are popular, and work similarly to traditional AA flak cannons.

Beam weapons can be done in a few ways.
None are perfect unfortunately.

flaks work well on smaller battleships, but not larger ones like Juggernaut or Kusari BS.

To make a beam weapon, it would need a very high refire rate, and high refire rate weapons lag the server.

Ah I understand. But missile turrets instead shoot something forward really slowly and shows as unknown object, in red brackets.

It's my understanding missles cause lag as well (depending on refire rate). Sidewinders @ 1.00 refire, no prob. But a turret at 4 to 5, prob. I suppose it would also depend on the duration and speed (ie 3000 range at only 200 kps would allow for a lot of missles to be active at once).

I've seen the Solaris missle turret for sale, anyone seen it in action? Does it cause lag?

Ammo or not its the projectile that causes the lag.

Hmm, beam weapons made me remember Mass Drivers.

-That- would be fun to see in-game. Use ammo, low refire rate, fast speed/1000 - 1500 m distance for fightercraft. Capital ships, same energy drain as missile turrets, ranges like... Mortar ranges, low refire rates, like little slower than Razors. Fairing well with shields, but specializes in hull. Perfect space-borne sniping system.
