I was wondering, do the Outcasts and Corsairs roll with these names because it makes them look more menacing? Or is it just a house connotation for them? Do they call themselves ''Maltese Nation'' and ''Cretan Nation''? Or were they supposed to stay easter eggs since they were both so far out in Vanilla?

I want to get off Mr. Igiss' wild ride.

i think the majority of us calls themselfs "Maltese".

A Psalm out of the outcast history books.
The dons are our shepherds; I shall not want. They make us live with a cause; They lead us trough the still vasts of space. They restore our souls; They lead us in the paths of righteousness For The Orange Dream. Yai, though we fly through the valley of the shadow of death, we will fear no evil; For the Spirits are with us; Your leadership and Your cardamine, they comfort us. You prepare a safe home for us in the presence of our enemies; Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us All the days of our life; And we will dwell in the house of the outcasts Forever

I'm fairly sure that the factions members do think of themselves that way. For the Outcasts, when they realized that the Cardamine had changed their DNA, they began thinking of themselves as Outcasts and they still think of themselves as Outcasts. However, they also made an official name for themselves, the Maltese Nation, since they originally named their planet Malta when they first landed.

As for the Corsairs, the game states that no one is sure when the name "Corsair" first came into use, but when the people of Crete found out that the Houses were calling them that, they just went with it. Even the official name of the Corsair nation is the Empire of Corsairs (or the Corsair Empire). I don't know if the Corsairs ever had another name for themselves before they began accepting the name "Corsair."

Carlos Rivera: Corsair Brotherhood Pirate - Retired, shifted to Tripoli Shipyard's Research and Development engineering teams
Anthony Cameron: Guild Core Bounty Hunter - Killed in Action, committed suicide after being trapped in Omicron Minor following its destruction
Juan Ruiz: Outcast Ghost of Razgriz Pirate - Killed in Action, killed by the Sirius Coalition Revolutionary Army during Bretonian piracy raid
Michael Winchester: Liberty Security Force Agent - Missing in Action, likely killed during Rheinland espionage mission or trapped in Rheinland Space
Eric McCormick: Order Pilot - Retired, shifted to planetside training of new recruits

Liberty and Nomad Backstory, Very interesting - read it!

Not the best translation btw.
Corsario is singular form of Corsair for starters.
The correct way would be "Imperio de los Corsarios" (to say it belongs to the corsairs) or "Imperio Corsario" (to say it is the corsair empire)
Right now if you read it in spanish it feels like there is some guy called Corsario and this is his empire:P
Just a little something I noticed on my first day but never pointed out hoping it would fix itself magically, or that nobody would actually care.
EDIT: Well the wiki says Del and not De. Still it would sound better if Del was removed entirely.

Maltese is the "general and official" way that many Outcasts refer to their nationality.

Outcast is more of a slang term, to be honest.

Spainish or Latin I wonder?

I don't know corsair background but thought they were from all over the med area. Malta isn't spainish, anymore than Crete is.

Yea, that's what always confuzzled me. Both nations are Mediterranean oriented, not Spanish. So wouldn't they speak more Greek/Latin then Spanish?

I use Maltese when comunicating with others of the same faction but I stick to Outcast when speaking with all the others.

There is an important fact that we should mention:

Quote:Eventually the Outcasts -- as they came to think of themselves -- began limited exploration of their system. As pilots wandered farther and farther afield in search of resources, many became seriously ill. Upon planetfall, the crews mysteriously recovered.

From the official description of the faction.
