In case you were planning or thinking about building or buying a computer or something else (like a security DVR) that uses a regular hard disk -
We've seen the prices on those quadruple within the last couple of weeks. About 45% of all the HDD's in the world come from a dozen factories that are in Thailand. Said factories in Thailand are only accessible now via SCUBA or submarine. The rest of the factories are already running at 98% capacity.
So cheap HDD's are a thing of the past, at least second quarter of 2012, is what we're hearing - and it may be longer than that.
Just an FYI, in case you didn't know about this.

Crap.. Srsly Crap... I didn't know it was that bad,
I was planning on getting a couple of WD 1tb Caviar Black's for the PC I'm building after Christmas.
Holy smokes... I was wondering about that. I noticed the price of HDDs had rocketed, I thought it was the Aussie $ or the frigging European economic fiasco or something.
Poor Thailand, they are the world's nicest people, hopefully their flood situation will resolve soon.
