Dourdan is located in the center of Chevreuse Asteroid Field. The planet was once extensively researched as a site for possible future terraforming. Ironically, surveys of the surrounding asteroid field conducted at the same time indicated presence of a Jump Hole leading to another system that was later named Provence. Discovery of a new means for interstellar travel rendered all ideas of terraforming Ile-de-France planets useless, since habitable planets were found in several systems that were one jump away from Ile-de-France.
