Based on the same technology as the rest of the CM series, the flare of CM-5 is heavier than its counterparts, thus capable of intercepting mass-seeking projectiles, and contains sophisticated seeker suppression systems. However, efficiency comes at a cost: refire rate of CM-5 is three times lower than refire rate of other countermeasures.
