The Aonyobo Annex is a restricted area of the Heaven's Gate fortress that is accessible only to the elite "Chochinbi" Special Operations Division. The division's activities are fiercely guarded secrets, with the unit being answerable only to the Lord Commander of the Kusari Office of Intelligence, and the Emperor himself.
Heaven's Gate was once one of the wonders of Kusari - a massive space fortress built to shelter the Emperor, laden with enough defenses to render any assault pointless. Aside from being a massive bastion, the Arch also holds some of Kusari's finest artistic designs, including the "Waterfall of Light".
After the coup of 330 AS, Heaven's Gate fell out of favor. Samura felt the Emperor would be a stronger figurehead if he was visible, so the throne remained on New Tokyo. Unwilling to let this marvel of Kusari culture decay, the Arch was kept operational, serving as an archive for Kusari's most guarded secrets and precious treasures.
The base was subverted during the Colony Wars, when Governor Tekagi, having met with Rheinland officials, was dominated by the Nomads. Tekagi was able to indoctrinate the fortress' guards, until its full staff and garrison fleet were under Nomad control as Thralls. The Blood Dragons learned of this subversion through their contacts with the Order, and were able to penetrate the base once during the Nomad Wars, stealing an important Artifact at the cost of a small fleet of their ships.
The Nomad presence was never fully eradicated; Shogun Edo appointed surviving infectees to command the newly created Kusari Office of Intelligence in the aftermath of the war. The organization has grown substantially since then, siting its headquarters aboard Heaven's Gate. To this day, the Infiltrators sequestered inside Aonyobo Annex continue to lead and misdirect the organization purportedly formed to exterminate them.

The Core infamously seized control over Planet Gammu in 832 AS, displacing the intelligent machines residing there. Now, these AI have reclaimed their territory, ejecting Core vessels from the system. Rumors whisper of an abnormal Core battleship leading an AI swarm of unprecedented size. Many fear what this development means for the strategically vital crossroads, through which goods from Omicron Delta must travel. The Zoners of Livadia have attempted to contact the enigmatic Gammusians to confirm their intentions, but have received no response. |

NEW TOKYO -- 835 -- Multiple KNF officers have been relieved of duty with immediate effect by a military tribunal. The board, appointed by Shogun Ikeda Yamato, was investigating the conduct of unspecified military operations. The panel dismissed several admirals and many senior commanders for “dereliction of duty” during these classified missions. The findings were privately met with shock by many Naval servicemen, who note the purges have installed replacements affiliated with the KOI’s Lord Tazuka. Anonymous sources have also expressed confusion regarding purges of the Nagasaki fleet, which is not believed to have participated in the relevant operations. |

ZETA -- Following recent clashes in Omicron Zeta, both the Core and Order were left bloodied and reeling. This appears to have been the opportunity the Nomads were waiting for, as a tide of alien vessels poured from the Pohnpei Nebula. Given the scale of the threat bearing down, both groups abandoned their outposts and retreated. Many were killed fighting to buy time for evacuation efforts, with the withdrawal largely succeeding thanks to the support of a rescue flotilla from Freeport 11. The Zoners came to the aid of both parties, arguing that the Nomad threat eclipsed any human dispute. Nomad ships have now begun to pour into Omicron Delta, intensifying raids on human stations. |

Disastrously, the Battleship Hakodate has been lost following the intervention of Blood Dragon bombers, critically compromising Kusari’s Omicron defensive screen. Disproportionate casualties were inflicted on terrorist forces, however key shipyard facilities were only minimally damaged. KOI commanders have blamed the failure on “disgraceful” KNF combat performance, while the KNF assert the true fault lies with “profound” KOI intelligence lapses that failed to anticipate the scale of resistance. KEPLER -- 835 -- While planning for the Niyodo’s retrieval was underway, a passive guard probe returned to Sirius and broadcast an alert of approaching Liberty forces. The Battlecruiser Misawa generated an emergency breach to Yomi, dispatching the Chochinbi, and other on-hand KOI elements. The Liberty group was intercepted while retreating from the Niyodo, carrying a salvaged component aboard a Heavy Lifter. Available forces pursued the retreating convoy, which blindly exited through a Jump Hole leading to Kepler. Surviving units were forced to retreat from the resulting combat. We must assume the Niyodo’s drive core has fallen into foreign hands. |

ICHIGAYA DRYDOCK -- A significant intrusion by Blood Dragon and Order terrorists has resulted in damage to the Ichigaya Drydock facility. While the severity of this damage was limited thanks to the rapid and overwhelming response by KNF and KOI elements, test-firings of the Ichigaya laser chamber have been temporarily suspended while repairs and inspections are carried out. Lord Protector Tazuka has ordered an immediate redoubling of patrols into Kurosawa Dust Cloud and bolstered support for the Hakodate Taskforce as a warranty against treacherous future raids. SAIGON -- 825 -- In a furious speech, Prime Minister Yukihara Reijiro of Kusari has declared a state of war against Rheinland. This follows the destruction of Ibusuki Survey Platform in Sigma-21, 12 hours before Rheinland's eviction ultimatum expired. Despite Rheinland's protests that it was not responsible for the act, Kusari has accused the Battleship Bayern of the murders, releasing the station's final distress calls that begged Rheinland forces to cease fire. As a result, Kusari has mobilized the Kusari Naval Forces to begin joint military operations alongside the Gas Miner's Guild. The Prime Minister has ordered Rheinland to withdraw all of its forces from the Sigmas immediately or face Kusari's fury. |

Kishiro Technologies has announced that it has assumed full administration of the platform to avoid being dragged into Rheinland's conflict with the Guild. The GMG in turn aims to enforce treaty terms from the end of the 80-Years War that it says establishes Guild sovereignty over the entire Sigma cluster. Kusari has offered to mediate the dispute, while Liberty and Bretonia have called for an immediate cessation of hostilities over fear of disruption to the sector’s strategic H-Fuel supplies. Rheinland has advised it will not obstruct Sigma H-Fuel shipments by vessels operating under neutral flags. Interspace has substantially raised premiums for convoys in the region. |

PLANET DENVER -- 805 -- President Jacobi has thanked House delegates for attending a much anticipated summit on Planet Denver. The President requested the meeting shortly after the Colony Wars’ conclusion, however progress was blocked when Kusari refused to attend alongside Rheinland. With those issues now resolved, talks were held on a range of issues including economic recovery, naval limits, and joint security. Notably, the ratified Denver Convention upheld laws tightly restricting the trade of alien Artifacts, and explicitly prohibited research on “live” Artifacts. Several clauses were ultimately removed from the Convention, with provisions on border world resource exploitation being dropped over Bretonian and Kusari disagreements. |

HONSHU -- 804 -- Dignitaries from Rheinland and Kusari today ratified the Second Treaty of Honshu, officially normalizing relations between the two Houses and ending Kusari’s embargo. This includes preferential rates for Kusari corporations on military goods and resources needed to rebuild the Kusari Naval Forces, and financial compensation for the damages inflicted in Honshu itself. NEW TOKYO -- 801 -- Shogun Edo has announced that a full economic embargo of Rheinland will be imposed by Kusari due to the outrages of the Colony Wars. Liberty’s President Jacobi has taken a leading role in mediation between Rheinland and the other Houses, with the Provisional Rheinland Government offering a message of condolence to the Kusari people for the actions of the toppled previous regime. Despite this, Kusari has remained resolute that no normalization of relations will be considered until full reparations are made for the devastation in Honshu and New Tokyo, and the many crimes Kusari alleges were perpetrated there. |

FULDA -- 801 -- With the disappearance of Chancellor Niemann and the installation of the Liberty-backed Provisional Rheinland Government, an immediate cessation of all hostilities has been ordered. Rheinland forces have begun withdrawals on all fronts. Reports from Kusari have confirmed that the Northern Fleet has retreated from New Tokyo and Honshu, however it has not returned to Rheinland or recognized the authority of the PRG. Government sources believe the fleet may have deserted, with Rheinland's remaining loyalist security forces being ordered to high-alert as a precaution against pro-Niemann coup attempts. |
