Faction IDs are unique hardpoint-mounted items that control your ship's role-play restrictions, IFF standings, and mining/trading bonuses. There are two types of ID: NPC Faction and Player Faction. The former are available to anyone without special application, and give the most freedom and flexibility in gameplay.
