With commerce becoming an increasingly volatile affair along with an established trend of helpless freight captains, a decision was made to develop an armored transport design with the soul of a gunship. This unassuming and almost simple design is an intentional lure, deluding many an opportunist into thinking that the Scarab cannot fight back. Much to the chagrin of the common criminal with more ambition than sense, the ship boasts rugged tolerances and teeth. More importantly, it is credited as being the baseline upon which the Mantis was then further developed.
