Built in 692 AS, four years after the Okinawa system was discovered by Blood Dragon scouts, the Sendai Research Complex was originally designed to house weapon and ship research for the Blood Dragons in an uncharted system, to maintain security and secrecy. Sendai focuses mainly on reverse engineering and adapting smuggled and stolen technologies, acquired by various means. The Nodachi bomber and Kagutsuchi were among the ships designed here, although the latter required the assistance of their Order allies.

Sendai has been an important xenoarcheological laboratory as well in more recent years. When in the months leading up to the Nomad War, house governments banned civilian posession of alien artifacts, such research was forced underground. It was during this time that the Order and Blood Dragons became allied, and many notable Kusari xeno-scientists who went to ground, joining the Dragons. Sendai continues this research to this day, receiving captured cargo from Hogosha artifact smugglers and studying them for any activity or information.

NEW TOKYO -- 835 -- Kusari’s national diet has passed a sweeping defense budget, allocating significant additional funding to fleet readiness, modernization, and shipbuilding. This has included extensive military contracts for Kure, Yukawa, and Yokohama Shipyards, with Kishiro Technologies and Samura Industries both announcing record hiring programs in response. The new budget also ended the remaining reconstruction funding grants for Planet Kyushu, noting Governor Toho’s termination of the local state of emergency.

LOS ANGELES -- 835 -- Synth Foods and Interspace Commerce have announced the opening of a new factory plant on Planet Los Angeles, after negotiating a major Agricultural Machinery export contract to Furyoku Station. Interspace is a major investor in the development of Sigma-59, and has placed the order to accelerate local economic development. The factory is expected to provide several thousand jobs, in addition to shipping roles within Synth Foods and Universal Shipping. The Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce has hailed the deal, calling it a “bright day for Liberty’s competitive edge”.

[835 AS] Fate of the Kappa crossroads uncertain

LIVADIA -- Travellers of the remote Omicrons have gathered anxiously aboard Corfu Station and Freeport 11 while awaiting news from Omicron Kappa. The Core infamously seized control over Planet Gammu in 832 AS, displacing the intelligent machines residing there. Now, these AI have reclaimed their territory, ejecting Core vessels from the system. Rumors whisper of an abnormal Core battleship leading an AI swarm of unprecedented size. Many fear what this development means for the strategically vital crossroads, through which goods from Omicron Delta must travel. The Zoners of Livadia have attempted to contact the enigmatic Gammusians to confirm their intentions, but have received no response.

[835 AS] Delta under siege as Zeta falls

ZETA -- Following recent clashes in Omicron Zeta, both the Core and Order were left bloodied and reeling. This appears to have been the opportunity the Nomads were waiting for, as a tide of alien vessels poured from the Pohnpei Nebula. Given the scale of the threat bearing down, both groups abandoned their outposts and retreated. Many were killed fighting to buy time for evacuation efforts, with the withdrawal largely succeeding thanks to the support of a rescue flotilla from Freeport 11. The Zoners came to the aid of both parties, arguing that the Nomad threat eclipsed any human dispute. Nomad ships have now begun to pour into Omicron Delta, intensifying raids on human stations.

[835 AS] Mu incursion repulsed

AKABAT -- 835 -- The Kusari invasion of Omicron Mu has been repulsed, after Order and Blood Dragon forces succeeded in destroying the Battleship Hakodate. The effort inflicted heavy casualties, with urgent rescue and recovery missions ongoing to identify survivors. Carthage has survived, suffering superficial damage from Chochinbi strikes. The situation in Omicron Zeta has proven to be untenable, however the Core offensive has stalled within the Yap Asteroid Field after large-scale infighting broke out across their fleet. Combat-ready survivors of the Mu theater are preparing to redeploy in an attempt to relieve Cairo Base.

[835 AS] Attack on two fronts

CARTHAGE -- 835 -- The Order has come under near-simultaneous attack on two fronts. The Core launched a large-scale assault in Omicron Zeta, while Kusari vessels attacked Omicron Mu from Tohoku. Akabat has ordered defenders to stop the Kusari fleet at all costs. Cairo Base in Omicron Zeta has been instructed to fight a delaying action, allowing much of its garrison to be redeployed to defeat the primary threat in detail. A call for aid has also been issued to the Blood Dragons of Ryukyu Base. The Battleship Hakodate is currently pushing towards the Carthage Capital Yards -- if Carthage falls, our mission will be critically jeopardized.

[835 AS] Galileo on the brink

GALILEO -- 835 -- Following an unspecified “security incident” in the Independent Worlds, military forces in Colorado and Shikoku have been ordered to high alert. Observers have raised alarms as the Liberty Navy and Kusari Naval Forces surge to their respective borders, warning of a heightened risk of “accidental escalation” in Galileo. Despite urgent calls for information from local system representatives, the governments of Kusari and Liberty remain tight lipped, other than confirming Manhattan and New Tokyo were in “active dialogue”. Both Houses have since put traffic controls in place, and are actively stopping and searching shipping entering their mutual borders.

[834 AS] Joint strike delays Tohoku threat

RYUKU -- 834 -- Blood Dragon scouts have given increasingly concerning reports about the activities at Ichigaya Drydock in Tohoku, where Kusari appears to be replicating Daam-K’vosh power relays. These are channeling energy from a large laser chamber mounted to the drydock structure, with intelligence suggesting the apparatus is the product of Xeno Relic reverse engineering. Unwilling to allow this technology to proliferate to unknown ends, the Order and Dragons have launched an assault into Tohoku and struck the Drydock facility. While this effort was not conclusive, the inflicted damage ensures Kusari’s timeline towards deployment has been significantly delayed.

[832 AS] On the Nose

NEW TOKYO -- 832 AS -- Multiple tips from unknown sources have aided, upon investigation, in exposing the abuse of Cardamine between numerous members of the Kusari Keiretsu. Intense work hours have pushed both the youths and the senior citizens towards the consumption of the drug, which is more readily available than ever before, partially due to the foreigner presence upon Roppongi Station. However, with the recent Farmers Alliance bombing on Roppongi seemingly linked to the sudden increase in Cardamine use among Kusari's businessmen, New Tokyo's residents have expressed sympathy towards the perpetrators, speculating that the Alliance's blatant admission to such a vicious act is not to be taken as a boast or a threat, but as a sign that they will not allow their friends and families to be preyed upon by the greed of corporations that, "do not belong anywhere near our home", said Katsuyori Ichihara, Samura Industries financial consultant, and survivor of the Roppongi attack. "I don't blame them", Mr. Ichihara continued, "that vile drug destroys families." Due to recent events, Samura Industries has taken it upon itself to act as a substitute for Interspace Commerce within the insurance market and many citizens have already expressed gratitude to Samura and their willingness to provide more financially preferable contracts than what the old management offered.

[831 AS] Jump Hole Upheaval Causes Chaos

HEISENBERG -- 831 AS -- Jump holes across Sirius have become increasingly volatile and chaotic over the last year, with Professor Sophia Nagel from the Heisenberg Research Station linking the unusual phenomena to the Pulse. The Pulse was an unprecedented blast of hyperspace energy that was detected immediately prior to last year's Jump Gate Blackout. Professor Nagel and her team are certain the Pulse originated from outside Sirius, but are otherwise no closer to identifying its source or mitigating a future Blackout event. "Following the Blackout, we began to see immediate signs of jump hole destabilization in multiple different regions, with many ultimately falling out of phase alignment altogether", she commented. The dramatic upending of Sirius' jump hole network has already prompted many groups to abandon stations and withdraw from systems that appear to risk being cut off. While months-long trips between the stars are possible thanks to the Liberty Engine and many centuries of innovation, few ships are designed or provisioned to make such arduous journeys. Those who were displaced by Sirius' redrawn map hope that system connections will return, while adventurers and explorers rush to discover new routes.

[825 AS] Dragons excise rot in Tohoku

RYUKYU -- 825 -- The Dragons have struck a great victory in Tohoku by crippling the Battleship Sado and assassinating Teruhisa Yamazaki. It is possible Yamazaki was a Nomad Infiltrator, pulling the strings of the infamous Chochinbi division. Our informants notified us that Yamazaki was due to depart Heaven’s Gate for a private meeting with the KOI’s overall commander, Lord Tazuka. This could not be permitted. Our scouts had observed the Sado’s forces being sapped away to fight in the Sigmas, and it was below the Sado’s guns that we struck Yamazaki’s convoy. Despite losing many brave warriors, we are now one step closer to excising the rot that corrodes Kusari’s very soul.

[801 AS] Nomads not yet vanquished

KYOTO -- 801 -- Following the abrupt end of Rheinland’s attack on Planet New Tokyo, Blood Dragon strike squadrons have continued to harass retreating Military units. During these operations, the Gunboat Brüssow was found drifting in Honshu. A boarding team discovered that the crew had been massacred by the captain, who they successfully vanquished after incurring heavy casualties. An autopsy revealed the Rheinland officer had been the host of a Nomad parasite -- the creature had not been killed following The Order’s recent victory, as we had previously believed. It is possible other Nomad infiltrators may remain intact, with dire consequences if they are allowed to reestablish themselves.

Blood Dragons

Okinawa was colonized in 692 AS, four years after the initial Blood Dragon scouts penetrated via the Honshu jumphole that the Matsuda guards today. Even then, this system wasn't entirely safe; the Mintaka field was as explosive then as it is today, and several of our scouts were lost where scanners did not function properly. Naturally, any salvagers would have encountered the same dangers - it's conceivable that wrecks over a century old yet drift in the mire. Samura's not present in person in Okinawa, but their pathetic lackeys, the Hogosha, have a base here - somewhere in the Hasuda asteroid field - and constantly attempt to find Sendai in a misguided bid to displace us from the system. The Hogosha are amateurs, their vessels weak, their pilots inferior. Perhaps they can kill the occasional Chrysanthemum, though even there, they're outmatched, but never a Dragon. Bounty Hunters - the scourge of Sirius has begun to encroach upon Kusari. It sickens me to think of how these lice-ridden dogs penetrate all that was once tranquil and peaceful - even now, they taint Okinawa, and are so audacious as to be sighted here in Kofu from time to time. We captured a bounty hunter called Luke Grafton out in the Kofu Cloud recently. He was in bad shape when we brought him in, with multiple internal injuries and several broken bones, but he survived. I was always lead to believe that all bounty hunters were ex-criminal gaijin who were only in it for profit, but Grafton seems to be a well-educated idealist who joined to fight crime and injustice. If all humans believed in freedom and justice like he does, we wouldn't be having to fight them in the first place. There has been troubling news out of Tohoku lately. Nomad activity is increasing, and we have reason to believe that Tekagi's Arch is inhabited once more. Our forward base at Ryukyu has been reactivated and patrols sent out. Perhaps we will be able to stop the problem before it becomes too severe this time. We've had an alien biology division aboard Sendai for over half a century. Though the Blood Dragons own and operate this base, we have a surprisingly large contingent of Chrysanthemums here; many were educated and trained as brilliant scientists and the work in xenobiology and xenoarchaeology we offer is the only alternative to a life of crime due to the corrupt, Samura-backed government. That gaijin bounty hunter Luke Grafton really earned his nickname! When we engaged his lone vessel, we outnumbered him by eleven to one. He took out four of us before we finally crippled his vessel. The unusual thing is, most bounty hunters that we encounter tend to fire on our escape pods rather than risk us being rescued by our own, but Grafton let them be. It seems that not all bounty hunters are honourless scum. An over-eager Hogosha pathfinder entered the Kofu cloud several weeks ago, striking out on his own to look for this base. It appears that luck is with the foolish, as the pilot penetrated to Sendai's very perimeter. At that point, however, his good fortune left him, as he was lamed by a shot from our automatic defences and then hunted down by a fighter wing. We decided to leave the wreck in place, as a warning to others; it lies to the southeast. A Libertonian Bounty Hunter, Luke Grafton, was shot down and subsequently taken prisoner towards Kofu's western edge yesterday morning. I saw Grafton when he was brought in; I'd expected a crude, loud-mouthed boor, but encountered an honourable foe, courteous in defeat. As far as I know, he's being treated for his various injuries; his ship was swallowed by the dust cloud, and may yet retain some of its equipment. I miss my wife. She is back on Kyoto base, working in maintenance on Blood Dragon fighters. I spend six month shifts out here onboard Sendai and while I enjoy my work, I wish she could be here with me. She comes to visit once every few months , but the journey through Kusari is dangerous. I wouldn't know what I would do if she were killed or sent to Fuchu prison. It is well-known that there were once Order here at Sendai; Order scientists were crucial to the efforts of the Blood Dragons in not only monitoring the actions of the late Governor Tekagi, but also in unravelling the gruesome secret behind his vile actions. No Order researchers remain aboard Sendai these days, however, and they won't be returning, they've allied themselves with our foes, the Corsairs, in the Edge Worlds. Noriko Sato, a fighter ace of the Chrysanthemums, frequently docks here. She's a credit to her sisters; there's many a Dragon that could learn something from her. The Naval Forces have placed a sizeable bounty on her head - well-merited - but she's escaped or destroyed all pursuers to date. I doubt she'll ever be caught; she's far too agile and alert. While the Dragons fight for freedom and independence, the keiretsu grow fat off the back-breaking labor of innocent citizens; the government's steeped in bribes and does nothing. The sacred duty of liberation therefore falls to us; we shall cleanse Kusari of the stain of dishonour that harks back to the Hideyoshi shogunate, when the Empire's rightful leader was betrayed and executed by Samura henchmen.

No Order researchers remain aboard Sendai these days, however, and they won't be returning, they've allied themselves with our foes, the Corsairs, in the Edge Worlds. Bounty Hunters - the scourge of Sirius has begun to encroach upon Kusari. Someday, the Dragons will be victorious; we shall throw off Samura's shackles of oppression and shall liberate the government. Kusari shall be restored to its glory and to its people.
