1. Turanic Raiders Freighter: Junker vessel, 400 hold size, 2 class 10 weapons and 6 class 5 turrets. 5 turret have forward arc. Its also very small with good agility. The perfect cargo pirating vessel.
2. The pirate transport has one small disadvantage. The size is a handicap within asteroids. Today i saw one or two bouncing between asteroids. The same handicap the suggested one of chopper will have.
3. Igiss has stated, no weapon mixes. Means GB or Transport/Fighter turrets, but not both.
4. A ship of this kind will be abused, rules or not.
5. In the same time you pirate for cargo you can easily make more profit with transportation runs, so only a few will use this ship for rp reasons.

yes it will just become normal mid sized trader with insane defense...
EDIT: oh yes...these are only my thoughts on the matter and not meant to offend anybody or stop this idea...i know there are people out there who can pull great RP with this kind of ship...but there are hell of a lot more that will abuse it...
CSV is a generic vessel, like it or not.
Yes, it is a Junker ship, it is designed by them.
But it's not sold on Manhatan because only Junkers use that ship.
Even their enemies use their ships (Hogosha).
Don't get me wrong, It's not generic in a sense that it is written on infocard, but it is generic in it's purpose.
You maybe don't see the things my way, so I'll try to explain.
Of course i would like for each faction to use only their ships, and not generic.
But, this would be a prototype vessel, so one should be made for start, you can't give it to everyone.
It's like Taiidan and RM bomber who were prototypes, now you'v got a lot more bombers.
That's a good example.
Taiidan was in each and every way a generic bomber.
Later, if it proves as a good ship in it's category, more ships of it's kind could be added to various factions, similar like it's done with the bombers.
Hope this clears things a bit.
And I don't think it would be abused. How many people do you see pirating in Cruisers and Battleships?
Very few, people are aware that it's breaking the rules, and they don't do it.
With good fines, it would be easy to control it.
It could only mount unlawful ID's, and they can't dock on lawful bases to buy the goods at all.
Only problem i see is smuggling, it would be hard to control.
But I would report every single one who would abuse it.
Maybe giving it a cost of 50-100 million and only about 2.5k cargo?
Traders/Smugglers would still earn more money with their current ships, even if they do get pirated sometimes.
As I said AoM, not even Turanic Raider can collect enough.
Maybe improving cargo of these ships would help, I don't know.

And as I said before, of course that these pirates would sell their loot on unlawful bases.
And yes, it's a bit lousier price, but it's still good.
For example, I guess that you could sell those diamonds on Cali base if you are Outcast or ally, and you could sell on a Kagoshima depot if you'r Corsair or ally.
I don't know the prices, but they aren't much worse i think.
You would actually earn more then a Trader, especially if you take all of his cargo away.
Because, you didn't pay for the goods, and you can sell it for max 200 under the regular.
And you didn't haul the goods, so you didn't loose 10-15 minutes to earn credits for another guy.
I actually think that this kind of pirating would annoy traders who do nothing but trade all day for their battleships.
And that's good, maybe they stop.:)
Mal - Yes, they would do a job in RP, but it still can't carry enough. Same amount can be carried by a gunboat, so these ships loose their point, except in RP.
If you want to make some damage to traders, you need to take at least 20-30% of their cargo.
And that's above 1k.
Only problem here is that in order to sell Diamonds on Cali Base ... you gotta fly them from Sigma 13, Chugoku, New Tokyo or Kyushu. Most Diamonds traders are caught in Sigma 13. Then you gotta fly back after selling them to catch the next trader.

Well ... Doom ... there's no convincing you of anything since you have your mind set. Yes every ship has a manufacturer ... BUT ... not all ships are used exclusively by their manufacturer (ie: they become generic). Examples are the Pirate Train, Pirate Transport, Firefly, Slipstream, Talon, etc. If you read their info cards, you'll see that many of these ships (while built by so-and-so) are used by pirates of all sorts. Don't live in a black and white world. After all, don't you have a Xeno Terrorist flying a Rogue GB (Prospector)?
Yes i do fly GB...but that GB is far from generic...as any other Rouge GB...and world is far from black and white
I am not against this ship type...i am against making more generic vessels...just cause game creators in order to keep development simpler created only one ship for numerous factions that doesn't mean we must do the same...if we done that there wouldn't be Rouge, BHG, Dragon GBs, there wouldn't be so many new transports out there...
we could simply make ONE pirate GB for all pirate factions to fly in...same goes for any ship type...and that IS black and white
People...do i need to spell it for you...
Generic kills variety!!!

Variety helps in RP and defines factions!!!
So yes...my mind is set...
Like I said ... no since arguing with you. My point is that there are generic pirates (carrying the Pirate ID) who have chosen not to join any particular faction. I don't want to be called a Liberty Rogue because I fly a Rogue GB ... nor do I want to be called a Corsair for flying a Corsair GB. My identity should be my ID ... but the first thing somebody sees is my ship and makes tries to make claim that I'm of a particular faction because I fly it. So for those of us that want to RP a pirate, with no faction association, what do you propose?
There is plenty of variety in this game with one exception ... everyone assumes you have to be part of some faction. Just because I fly this ship or that ... it does not mean I am a member of the faction that built that ship. I drive an Oldsmobile. Does this mean I work for Oldsmobile because I purchased their car? Or if I drive a Chevy ... does this mean I am a General Motors employee?
Doom, please read my post. I understand what you'r saying, I explained everything in my last post.
You can't make a new class all of the sudden for each and every Pirate faction.
Prototype is needed. It's been done like that for a long time, and I don't doubt it will be in the future.
Baltar, well, there is your mistake.
That is exactly what I'm talking about. People think that you must pirate in Sigma-13.
Tell me, why not Kyushu?
If I know that i can sell those Diamonds on Cali, do you really think i would pirate in Sigma-13?
No, I would pirate in Kyushu.
And that is the best, get them just before they reach their destination.
So, for example, if I wanted to get Cardamine smugglers, I would wait them in NY, not near Malta.
Why? Because I want them to transport it, and all i have to do is steal it and sell it nearby.
That is actually a strategy, and people would be forced to think a bit before pirating, instead of the regular "2 mil or I pwn ya'r sry @$$ lolzor".
If you get what i mean.

I never said you HAVE to pirate in Sigma 13. But that's the choke point where most all traders go through. And you don't have to deal with the Rheinland military in New Berlin nor the Kusari navy in Honshu, New Tokyo or Kyushu. Either way ... you still have to fly anywhere from 5 - 15 minutes to sell your goods and get back for the next trader. You stated that the travel time was eliminated ... I was just trying to point out that there is still a bit of travel time involved. And Cali Base is not near trade lanes so you gotta go through open space (which means more time).
Kyushu would be great for getting those Diamonds ... but what about the other commodities? And speaking of the Diamonds run. Isn't it a bit risky (RP wise) for a trader to be traveling through Chugoku? Yes ... its much faster to planet Kyushu. But its a bit OORP for them to pass within such close proximity to Kyoto Base (run by the Blood Dragons). Most traders go out of their way to avoid pirates ... why fly within 10k of one of their home bases ... unless of course you are smuggling?
EDIT: Oh yeah ... forgot about the GC base (Ainu) in Hokkaido. Gotta pass by both BD and GC to get to Kyoto. Bit dangerous if you ask me.
