Arent a million credits a bit too much? Hell, some of the smaller freighters cant even haul that much worth of cargo.
Basically, if the price is 1 million pr. docking, the only viable freighter on the Tokyo -> Berlin route is a Train. All others would get a better profit from taking their trade elsewhere. And then youd be blocking an empty system
Or perhaps thats your intention? To force people out of the system?
How about 100.000 credits instead? Its been said before that credits arent the reason behind this. So there really isnt a need to steal that much.
If it only cost me 100.000 credits to be caught by the Battleship Terror Group, then I could use Tokyo as a base and still make a reasonable profit when flying in a smaller freighter
I don't remeber precise prices now, but you can make about 1300 per 1 diamond on each run. This means profit approximately
Lifter - 1.000.000
Transport - 1.300.000
Large Transport - 2.500.000
Train - 3.900.000
Large Train - 5.200.000
Million is too much. Only for trains it might be sufficient price. For large transport - maximum 500.000, for transport maybe 250.000. I'm not one of the Terror group, but think about it people.
A variable rate tax really is a good idea. Most of us know roughly how many holds the various ships have, so a tax based on that would be pretty easy to enforce. Something like $300 per hold, rounded down to the nearest hundred holds would be about right, and have the added bonus of giving the smaller transports a better break. It should be mentioned again not to worry if you're flying any of the stock freighters or an armored transport. If you're flying one of those you need the money and we're not going to dick you over. If you're flying a fat train full of diamonds however...... [insert evil smiley face]
