And if you can avoid getting killed in Alaska, there's a juicy wreck there. Selling whatever you find there will put ya very close to a good freighter. Omicron delta isn't far from there either.
O for god sake, you can take your noobiflyer to Colorado, just inside the jumpgate, and mine a hold of silver in less time than it takes the Xenos to get there. Do that a couple of times, *bam* you have enough for a Rhino. Rinse and repeat.....
I never understood why people have this need to create a char, and go straight into this-or-that ship. The fun of the game is starting with nothing, and working your way up by the arse of your breeches. Funny that......
oh and onca, my reason is that its not actual work, its just a lot of time and mouse-clicking. i use freelancer as a way to relax and have fun, not another job. this in no way is meant to be snide or dis' any of you.
Heh... I've been known for losing all my stuff quite a few times. Every now and then I start from scratch anyway just to get my bearings straight. Good to keep "fresh" I guess on what's going on in new players' minds.
' Wrote:ive got an x-shuttle now, working up to a humpback. anyone know a better trade route than diamonds to tokyo, niobium to the ring?
Stretch the run out a bit further by carrying the niobium all the way to Leipzig in Dresden and taking the Diamonds to Planet Kyushu. If you're feeling really ambitious, you can put in the time to mine your own diamonds in Dresden and Niobium in Tau 23 or 37.
Leipzig and Kyushu are the two best places to sell those two commodities. If you don't want to take the time to mine the goods yourself, you can buy Niobium at Java (Tau 23) or Falkland (Tau 37) and Diamonds at the other large base along the tradelane to Leipzig. (The name excapes me at the moment.)
Honestly as a new player I think the starting credits are just fine.
However I think that the starting ship & load out needs slight adjustment.
It needs to come with a shield buster, and better hull damaging weapons from the get-go. When I Started I spent my 8500 on a shield buster for my class 3 slot and did missions till I could get into a better fighter, then kept doing missions. I got lucky and several players actually donated sums of money to me when they saw me busting my hump to get myself situated in the game, and now I am well situated with a Container Transport armed to the teeth and call Freeport 9 my home.:)
Be mindful as well, by the time I got lucky, I was already flying a scimitar loaded out very well that I obtained on my own.

Thanks everyone. I agree Octavious - it took me nearly 10 minutes to take down a rogue when i started. i've got bad lag from slow internet so the jumpiness made it impossible to get a good shot

Once you can manage it, i suggest doing station killing missions that don't require you to kill the ships (stations don't dodge). Easy mission, good payout
