If working in Bering and you intend to use FP2 as a base, you may want to ask the Zoners about it. I didn't see it mentioned as to whether or not you would but they wouldn't like having a firefight right outside the base when your group was trying to stop a fleet of Rheinland warships.
I would say the Merc ID. You don't HAVE to ask for money to fend off Rheinlanders if you're doing it for the pride of your homeland and that ID gives you some flexibility.

Rules-wise, they -do- need a contract. The Merc ID gives equipment flexibility, not flexibility of action.
This is where the Paramilitary ID would be really useful... or a non-useless Vigilante ID...
However, I know the Mandalorians have a contract with Liberty to shoot down the RM. You could talk to the LN about getting in on that- which would also cover your fundraising problem. You could land on LN bases to boot.
Merc ID
* Can trade and escort traders
* Can fulfill lawful and unlawful bounty contracts
* Cannot pirate, but can provide security services for pirates who are pirating if paid to do so. Mercenaries can only fire on traders or smugglers in self-defense or if the trader or smuggler fires on or is bountied by the mercenary's employer.
* Cannot demand contraband unless specified in employer's bounty
* Cannot use any transports with more than 3,800 cargo
I dunno, doesn,t seem to fit too much....
EDIT: We'd most likely use Ouray in Hudson as a priority base against Rheinland, or Dawson if we get the Rogues' authorization.
Provided you get in on the LN contract versus the RM, that covers your funding and ability to attack the RM (and certainly has the equipment flexibility). It also allows you to dock anywhere people let you, and means that LNS-Lolcap won't attack you on sight thinking you're an enemy.
You don't have to RP as doing it for the money, after all.

Well, this is interesting, but this would mean that the Liberty Navy funds a group that are formed of former unreliable criminals that could just turn against them after the war is over.
EDIT: Although, I do plan to contact the Miltiary to get access to, well, Military techs.

And the Bounty Hunters Guild isn't made out of former unreliable criminals who will do stuff for money? You, however, have patriotism, which makes you far less likely to turn on your home nation. Joining the Xenos when the war is over? Acceptable risk, probably. Once the war draws toward a close, they may reign you in a bit more tightly to prevent a second 522nd debacle.
I'd poke the [LN] about it OOC-like and see what they think about this sort of setup. If they can see themselves agreeing to it, then you've got yourself a plan. If not, work things out, or keep hunting for IDs.
EDIT: Provided you're working exclusively for the Liberty Navy (as you aren't really mercenaries) they shouldn't have problems allowing you certain LN tech. Caps? Not likely. Fighters? Sure, you're using them against the Rheinlanders after all.

Agreed. Kusari especially could use some life... I'm sure that if you can think of something this decent for Liberty, you will be able to think of something for Kusari. Or even Rhineland.
The idea is well thought-out, but Liberty is just way too crowded.

[02:20:40] Jess the Music Meister: It can,t be done in another house.
[02:20:53] Jess the Music Meister: Bretonia got QCP.
[02:20:58] Jess the Music Meister: Kusari is too proud.
[02:21:07] Jess the Music Meister: Rheinland is too ****ed up.
[02:21:18] Jess the Music Meister: Gallia, it's not even considerable.
EDIT: As for the well thought-out thing, it took me 5 minutes to write that.
