it is doubtful that the hackers could overcome the gate anyway....
hackers are no gods. - they hack into tradelanes to check trading protocols and dates. - and that is their GREAT ACHIEVEMENT. - now... a high security gate to a rumored system ... that is something totally different.
if it was possible - the alaska gate should really be locked for ALL, but a selected few players ( special RP chars ) that gain access through it by showing an equally high quality REASON to take it ( instead of taking the normal path ) and roleplay ingame.
the order that wishes to ambush liberty doesn t need to take the alaska gate - they can do it in fighters and fly through a series of jumpholes far away from the main routes - right into new york.
the nomads - well, its not sure how they do it, cause i hardly see a story involving how they overcome it - but we regard them to be like gods.... - so they might be able to hack into it, maybe not in real time, but there we go.... .
the navy - and only the topmost navy officers that HAVE BUSINESS there MAY have access to alaska. - that doesn t mean they know the codes! - that just means that they might be let through.
in terms of RP - even for a navy, it would probably best if the gate was closed. - and each highest ranking navy that wants to go through would have to apply for it - at the admin team - who would then - after a longer time of consideration... let him through by ( .beam <name> ) him.
after all, not even the navy will go there on a daily base. - thats why they have capital ships there, too - to be able to operate independently for a much longer time.

The nomads bind with the gate with their own genetic structure so to speak, since they are made mainly of energy, they are able to connect to the gate's very energy that opens the portal and thus pass through. They have no need for activation codes or anything like that. Treewyrm could probably explain this better, but there will be a similar explanation in the lore.
umm, how much times will I say it, There will not be any guard bases around Alaska, JG, JH, etc. I refused to add such features to the systems, for balance issues.
What I did to the system is more subtle. The system may also change a bit during the betas, As I could add something more in it.

Not guard, just normal LSF, so that anyone patrolling the system has somewhere to base out of (assuming that was directed at my post), running in from Norfolk or the prison stations is quite a journey.

I agree with this, the alaska shipyard should be dockable or there should be another base close to the gate and no it should not be guard, King is right about that, there would be major balance issues.
' Wrote:Actually, this whole Corsair - Order alliance is a load of crap.
The Del Cid's are some nice tech that Corsairs can build and Order can't. Also I think the alliance will be a lot more in RP in .85 if the BHG has a base in Delta, I think these two org's would tend to band together to fight the BH scum;)

tazuras "It would be nice if you could make it so anyone who wasn't LN, or LSF tagged would be instantly hostile to all LN patrols in the system, like maybe guard patrols, but with caps."
*cough* Undockable base on either side, LN Guard aligned.
Advantage: Discouraging to Smugglers who use that system for their powersmuggling. Allows for the inRP protection of it, without the cost of boredom from needing someone to sit there all day.
Disadvantage: Also discourages Order vs Liberty Navy / LSF RP, unless the two dreadnoughts could be destroyed by attacking Order forces (Stationary Dreadnought "Patrol"?)
Like I said already I was wrong about this, too much guard in alaska would through off the balance. What if the guard was on the other side of the JG though, in zone 21 in NY, then they could blow up any smugglers coming through there. I mean if this was a high security system I controlled I would line that whole tunnel into the minefield with weapons emplacements. The only thing this would stop (other than slightly OORP smugglers) would be the Order slipping into NY, which I wouldnt have a huge problem with personally, but now i get to see what others think.

Order have the equipment. They have the best techs in Sirius at their disposal. Sure, they may not have numbers, but they have the ingenuity and the reason to make the best they can. According to the lore, the Order-Sair alliance is such that Sairs get tech and Order get pilots...which is total codswallop.
The Order source pilots from all over Sirius, hand-picking the best of the best. They don't need cast-off Corsair pilots (no offense to Sairs, but Outcasts are actually the more skilled pilots of the two), so this alliance is essentially "We give you tech and get...nothing...yeah..."
As for the BH factor, Sairs and Outcasts are not "allied" because they both fight Hunters...but you try flying a BH into the middle of an OC/Sair furball...
