/ignore function is there for a reason. If a dude that spams local chat with complaints breaks your immersion pick another lane or place. It's just that simple.
/ignore doesn't change that the other player had a bad experience and is frustrated with what he/she perceives as being "foul play".
Being a person of conscience, I generally don't like that - especially if it can be easily streamlined so nobody has to leave the encounter feeling like that.
IFF shows what faction you belong to, or choose to affiliate yourself to. It doesn't really show what you do (like piracy, trading, mining etc.). IFFs in RP are kinda like the codes that appear on faction ship's transponders to identify themselves, and are developed by those factions, it's their tech.
Freelancer IFF or no IFF on the other hand shows that you don't belong to any faction. A generic pirate would not be belonging to any faction, and I am sure individuals from different parts of sirius, having never met each others would not be developing their own tech and an IFF to share.
Aye, but it could be managed just as easy as the Freelancer IFF is - a generic faction with no leadership, allegiances etc. Just a some dudes you can bribe in Koeln or Coronado or wherever, and that's that. It's just a technicality that can be easily circumvented. The no IFF solution is possible, but annoying to maintain.
' Wrote:Problem is a lot of newer players dont understand that - and to be fair, I do see why it is confusing or could be seen as "cheating" by them. So when you stop them, you have to go through 10 minutes of OOC rule-booking before you can make your demands. It's really frustrating for both parties.
this isnt a problem of Freelancer IFF at all. I had like 4 ppl QQ at me that I pirated em on Corsairs IDed/IFFed ship when they making money to buy a Legate. believe me, some newcomers wont stop OOC even if Admins will tell em. if we must to have indie Pirate IFF we would have it long time ago
I discussed it with Cannon at the time, and due to the support (as I recall, it was quite some time ago) it was decided that some IFF will be edited to a generic unlawful one in 4.87, or something along those lines.
' Wrote:Not sure why independent pirate would want to show off he is a pirate soon as he comes within 10k range. Counter-productive for piracy itself...
Truer word have never been spoken.
Bottom line is, if a pirate IFF is really to be implemented I'm pretty sure every respectable indie pirate out there won't use it. Which defeats the purpose of implementing it in the first place.
