i think systems are too flat. the new Gallia Systems seem to take advantage of placing objects off the normal XY plain and i like this. placing things in a 3d environment just become much cooler when they are given a Z value other than 0.

of course this would cause systems to be harder to patrol but also harder to sneak through.....never knowing where the enemy is

...scratch that. There's plenty of risk. I've been flying the same shipment of Light Arms to Cape Wrath from the Manchester JH for two days now, the server keeps bloody crashing when I get to around the 20-25k mark.
(EDIT: I tested this in Open SP just to be sure. It's not the cause.)
I can start patrolling it if you want, but I don't think you have anything to worry about from a Switchblade and a pair of Sabres. We're certainly not going to intercept our weapon deliveries...

You're not bringing them into the Taus, so the BAF aren't going to stop you... that really just leaves the Gaians.

I generally prefer medium-size systems. I like being able to get from place to place quickly. Larger ones are okay when they're full of interesting places like New York, but Newcastle is just too much for me.

Newcastle is my favorite system. I like Giant systems. It would make it even more epic if they had more content.

Smaller systems don't give me the feeling of open space, they seem like tradelane extensions and aren't interesting.

Interesting results. But not very surprising to me. Except I thought that everyone hates Newcastle type of too large systems.;)

On the other hand objects being almost in scanner range (I see couple have voted pretty minimalistic distances) do not make sense to me.

Flying under radar.

Newcastle is ridiculously too large. At some distance objects disappear or become buggy, its meaningless.

In my personal opinion, the vast majority of the non-vanilla systems are either too huge and empty, or have too much stuff going on (there is SO much stuff in each gallia system it is kind of ridiculous) and feel really crowded.

I am thankful for windowed mode whenever my trader has to fly through omega-47. It's a cool system and all, but there's just like a 90k vacuum in the middle of it. I don't have any hard and fast rules about this stuff, other than the fact that newcastle, munich and omega 47 are way too huge to the extent that people don't even like going there.

Personally I like the mid-range to large systems. Huge systems have their place, but I get bored easily when I have to haul a 50+k trip at cruise speed. I tend to stay out of places like 0-47 and Newcastle, unless I have a specific reason to be there.

Edit: Drey is right in saying things are too flat. Having stuff off the plane really makes things more interesting.

Personally, I love medium sized systems that make it not long but not too short enough to get through while in cruise. Makes life easier on us pirates to not spend 5 hours getting from JH-JH in Newcastle. Oh and got to love the fully populated systems(i.e bases, fields, etc).
