' Wrote:8) As opposed to CMs that are short-lived 'flares', longer lived decoys that actually fly away on a vector - could even draw away NPCs for a short time...MAYBE at long range (outside scanner, but within visible sensor or even clickable sensor range) it mimics the name and IFF of the person who launched it! I would give this a cargo space requirement as it is pretty sophisticated...
Just like Crybabies from Firefly/Serenity. This would be awesome to have in the mod, I wonder if projectiles can be made to show up on your scanners?
Couple of ideas I had considered previously. Don't know if they're scriptable or practical.
Magnetic Harpoon: Basically, a big tractor beam which can slow down or move objects like ships, loot, gibs, etc around. It wouldn't be able to overcome a ship's engines however unless they engine killed.
Fort Shield: A large shield dome which protected the ship it was mounted on, and any ships inside it's radius. Other ships would have to enter the shield or overload it from outside to be able to get at the generator. The idea would be that it would be built onto dedicated ships (Specially designed mobile shield vessels) and not mountable on others.
Gravity Well: Would basically project a field which would stop cruise or engine kill. Acting like a globular CD generated from a single vessel. It would probably also be fitted onto it's own dedicated hull and be a tactical support asset.
Interceptor Missile: Pretty much a small, high speed, high damage missile for capital ships to use against attacking strike craft. However, it'd have very low refire (akin to a supernova), high energy drain, and need ammo.
Nuclear MIRV: Like nathrael suggested. A multiple warhead missile used either by bombers against caps, or as an anti cap weapon. Would be too slow to affect fighters but would be devastating against smaller or medium sized warships.
Repulsor Field: Creates a sphere of energy which pushes away ships and objects around it. Can be used offensively (e.g. pushing ship into planet) or defensively (pushing away explosives or ruining an enemy's firing solution)
Rift Generator: Not to sure about this one. It'd work like the /stuck command and randomly teleport a ship in a random direction a short distance. Would only be mountable on certian high tech ships, require ammo, and automatically reduce weapon energy (and possibly shields) to zero.
Self Destruct: As the name suggests. A ship with it's torpedo slots replaced with a self-destruct device which does assenine amounts of damage to the surrounding area, but also kills the ship using it.
You mean the one Tenacity recently made? Or is there another 17th century pirate cannon?
Well, personally, I would like to see railguns/gauss weapons somewhere. They should do massive hull damage, almost no shield damage, use not-insane amounts of energy use ammo, and have high speed (800+).
not a weapon as such but would it be possible to make somesort of long range radar for say gunboats and up maybe using 50% of weapon power or a few weapon slots/armour slots this would allow a group to have a command shipa acting as a sort of AWACS type thig that could detect enemy ships cross system and let friendly ships know where and who is closer etc. it would be useless for combat but would add a more tactical side to gameplay (plus it might give ppl an opertunity to order those that base camp to move it:P)
Quote:I would second a railgun as primarily a hull damaging weapon. Beautiful devices, and cheap and easy to manufacture.
It seems I've been beaten to my request, so I'll third that!
I suggest a really high speed (excuse redundance, I didn't read the initial suggestion), hull damage weapon (I got that part! Just reiterating) that has a reeeaaallly slow refire rate.
... Possibly?
In any case, in the way of effect, would it be possible for, when it hits, an effect goes along the slug's trajetory? If so, maybe we could have some 2D rubbish fly out the side of the ship that was struck. Like [(X) is the ship]:
-------->(X){~=
To show the slug went through and through. Mostly for fanciness. Sort of like a blood spatter, only for a dreadnought.:P
