Obviously the rules will need to be amended accordingly if this addition is introduced.

Personally I don't have a problem with it, we can even make it so it can be activated by a key press instead of a command. Besides it's relatively easy to do since vanilla ships dropped shields when ejecting cargo as well.

Easy enough to implement the /shield thing. The Flak88 flhook already supports it. I've been meaning to port it for a while.

i like this one too! BUT! i think 1 or 2k is a bit too less... when i sit in the badlands (or any other cloud) and make "/pseudocloak" and i go 3-4k over or below the standard Level nobody will find me for days

i think 5k will be ok
-20sec restart
-energie drain (like cruise drain) cause i think the generator had to be shut down too to be not on the scanners of others

or make a ships completly invisible on scanners (like atum or the one prisonstation in alaska) but make a longer restart countdown lololol.... thats pseudo cloak:D

both ones good to escape your enemies

just some ideas:D

I believe "stealth mode", likely in this form, was intended for the full Freelancer during the betas. Unfortunately, it was never implemented.

Well, I would say .. this idea is still worth it, even if someone is such jerk to try and use it (I still hope not tho, people act like they hate each other often, but I think it's not personal enough to "plot" something like that), it's worth it, because it can bring quite a lot to enrich the RP here.

Greetings,

i really like the idea of dropping shields. In order to prevent abuse, just place a message like the cloaking device-one then it will be easy to prove the opposite if a Battleship attacks you.

About the removal from scanners:
I think such a drain will make smuggling easier and getting caught alot harder. For example you can see that theres a hostile guy at 14k.
If you are at a tradelane, cancel the Lane and he is still not moving, he's camping at a lane, and you can simply go 'round him since he is still not able to see you.
If the scanning-range-shorting is below 10k, you can even look up the IFF of the target.
And if it would even be lowered to 1-2k, as initially suggested, you would even be able to scan the Target before he is able to see you (if you are in a small ship, with a BS you are of couse very visuable ^^).

So if there is a lowering at all, i would prefer to lower the scanning range of the "stealthing" ship as well, if its possible.

nope... cause when you lower your whole ship you will be not able to move... no energie -> no engine -> no movement

Yea, it shuts down all systems... you have no shields, no weapon power, no engine power - you're dead in space unable to move or react to attack. Should probably take 10-15 seconds to 'power up' the ship again.

It wouldnt make you invisible, just not detectable on scanners, this way you can still be fired at and the effect is only useful for smaller ships - a battleship would still be visible from 15k+ away due to it's large size.
