Hhhmm...I suppose it has to do with the kind of pirate, the one being pirated, and the cargo.
For example, I perfer 500k demands, though 1mil is also good if I run into a good sized ship with a decent level (i.e. Firefly lv.75). 2 mil is rare for me.
How the trader acts is anotehr factor. If you run, waste my disruptors, and scare of other miners/traders, you've got a hefty fine on your hands (1-3mil). Also, if you have some good cargo and I have freighter/transport support, I'll rob your cargo (ore can easily be sold to Junkers/other traders).
But, ah, 10 mil, you say?
That's excessive. Pirating is for fun. It's not supposed to be like trading.

New sig.
I keep hearing people say escorts aren't there. I sat in Liberty for 2 hours the other night asking if anyone needed escorts. I ended up helping some Navy with some Phantoms/Hessians.........got our arses kicked! I moved to Bretonia and the Taus looking for work. Guess what EVERY trader/miner I asked said?
I don't need no escort.
It is at that point that I wanted to log off and make myself a pirate but I didn't.

Ah, the truth of it all.
I almost want to post multiple identical topics across the different boards on this forum simply quoting that there. If only more people realised that.

Well there you go, "your group" has escorts.
But not everyone has a group, and find it much harder to find even one escort.

This is what I've been saying on Skype for months.
I pirate for 500k base.
You run, it goes up to 750k.
You shoot at me, it's one million.
I don't go above that except in extreme cases.

Good to see most players are well aware of the unwritten parameters that constitute the difference between
reasonable, and unreasonable demands ...
It should all be for fun here, for both the pirates and the traders, though the traders who seem to stubbornly
refuse to cough up some credits for escorts will eventually do so for pirates. No point being tight arsed, some
one will find a way to prize that hard earned cash out of your sweaty mitts eventually.
Roleplay here should be about interaction and co-operation between everyone playing ...
