Nebulae
Aveyron Nebula
>>>WARNING: NAVIGATION HAZARD<<<
The Aveyron Nebula is one of the distinctive red clouds that frame Languedoc. Once the site of a heavily guarded Royal Navy supply passage into the Hebrides, the Aveyron was largely abandoned following the construction of the Tau-23 Jump Gate. The nebula's notoriously poor visibility, hazardous conditions, and heavy Brigand and Maquis activity has deterred any further attempts by the Gallic Metal Service to survey the field for resources.
Saint-Hippolyte Nebula
>>>WARNING: NAVIGATION HAZARD<<<
The Saint-Hippolyte Nebula is one of the distinctive red clouds that frame Languedoc. The nebula is infamous for its difficult conditions, characterised by gravitational hazards, dampened sensors, and dense pockets of asteroids. Heavy Maquis patrols are known to attack any who venture into the nebula, with Gallic Union officials speculating that they may have constructed a replacement facility, following the destruction of Limoux Base.
Asteroid Fields
Montpellier Minefield
Montpellier Minefield
Arcachon Debris Field
>>>WARNING: NAVIGATION HAZARD<<<
This large debris field formed over the centuries through industrial dumping from Fourchambault Shipyard and Nimes Station. This practice has continued unabated, despite Union authorities passing laws prohibiting further dumping. Prosecutions against individual workers rather than the companies whose orders they were obeying has caused significant anger on Quillan, with local unions launching strikes in solidarity for this perceived injustice.
Nyons Asteroid Field
>>>WARNING: NAVIGATION HAZARD<<<
The Nyons Field is a turbulent belt of molten asteroids that have fallen into a close orbit around Languedoc’s star. Initially prospecting from Remoulins Station, the Gallic Metal Service has extracted Iron and other metals from the field for over a century. Since 734 AGS (818 AS), GMS has launched its mining expeditions from Planet Quillan and Nimes Station.
Lozere Asteroid Field
A medium-sized asteroid field that was mined out shortly before the Gallic Invasion of Sirius, leaving abandoned industrial equipment scattered throughout. It is rumored that a hidden Unione Corse base may be located within. Gallic authorities recommend travelers avoid the area, citing the heightened incidences of smuggling and piracy.
Languedoc Minefield
<TRA color="red" bold="true"/>
WARNING: MINES DETECTED
The Languedoc Minefield was deployed by the Gallic Union in 745 AGS (829 AS), in response to the earlier Kusari Invasion. Many Council veterans of the Second Gallic Civil War have expressed discomfort with the measure, believing it signals backsliding into the isolationist and xenophobic policies of the deposed Gallic Kingdom. Despite this, Union officials insist that mining Gallia’s Tau borders and imposing strict checkpoints is essential to deterring aggression by Bretonia, Crayter, and Kusari.
Leucate Debris Field
>>>WARNING: NAVIGATION HAZARD<<<
This large debris field formed over the centuries through industrial dumping from Fourchambault Shipyard and Nimes Station. This practice has continued unabated, despite Union authorities passing laws prohibiting further dumping. Prosecutions against individual workers rather than the companies whose orders they were obeying has caused significant anger on Quillan, with local unions launching strikes in solidarity for this perceived injustice.
Meyrueis Debris Field
>>>WARNING: NAVIGATION HAZARD<<<
The Meyrueis Debris Field was created by the Second and Third Battle of Ales in 743 AGS (827 AS). These devastating battles were fought between the Gallic Confederacy Navy, Kusari Naval Forces, and later Gallic Enclave during the Kusari invasion of Gallia. Kusari initially held this junction and occupied Fourchambault Shipyard, later destroying it before withdrawing from Gallia's counter-attack. The field is currently being salvaged by locally-trained ALG work crews.
Isere Debris Field
>>>WARNING: NAVIGATION HAZARD<<<
The Isere Debris Field was created during the Battles of Montpellier in 733 AGS and 734 AGS (817 - 818 AS), during the Second Gallic Civil War. This conflict between the Council and Gallic Royal Navy resulted in the breaching of the Montpellier Minefield, and the Council’s Languedoc fleet escaping into Sirius. The battlefield’s wreckage is often scavenged by Gallic Brigands.
Voiron Debris Field
>>>WARNING: NAVIGATION HAZARD<<<
The Voiron Debris Field was created during the prolonged Battle of Agde in 743 AGS (827 AS). This devastating campaign was fought between the Gallic Confederacy Navy and Kusari Naval Forces during the Kusari invasion of Gallia. Kusari repeatedly attempted to breach Ile-de-France, with Confederal forces tenaciously holding them at bay. The intervention of The Enclave from the south marked a turning point in this battle. The field is currently being salvaged by locally-trained ALG work crews, despite setbacks from Maquis attacks.
