      Areas of Interest

      Nebulae

      Mer Méditerranée

Mer Méditerranée is a massive blue nebula comprised primarily of methane and water ice. The tiny part of the cloud that touches Provence often changes shape as it is affected by the gravitational forces in the system.

The extremely slow but constant changes in this portion of the nebula have become a major tourism market in Gallia known as "Cloud watching".

      Asteroid Fields

      Vaccares Asteroid Belt

A dense field of asteroids, believed to originate from a small moon or planet that broke apart during Provence's formation. Once rich in rare minerals, the field has been depleted of the most economic ore deposits. GMS recently abandoned operations in the field due to mounting costs.

      Luberon Asteroid Field

A field of rock asteroids, likely formed of fragments from a planetoid's collision with another stellar body. It contains trace amounts of useful resources, with GMS surveys of the belt revealing gneiss and schist formations laced with minuscule veins of rhodium. The nearby Monte Carlo Station has established a race track within, where many a Gallic youth or Corsican bravo has discovered their boasts exceeded their talent.

      Camargue Dust Field

A rather compact field of dust and small asteroids, the Camargue Dust Field is held in tight orbit of Planet Marseille and regularly trawled by the Gallic Metal Service's Toulon installation. Many of the small rocks and compacted dust within the field contain extremely rare metals and minerals, making the efforts of the GMS - and the illicit miners that they have tried repeatedly to stop - more than worth the trouble it takes to collect such miniscule returns.

      Calanques Debris Field

      >>>WARNING: NAVIGATION HAZARD<<<

The Calanques Debris Field was created by the "Clash of the Titans" that claimed the Battleship Arles, Battleship Oblique, and most of their attendant fleets in 742 AGS (826 AS). EFL Oil and Machinery were appointed by the Parisian Assembly in 743 AGS (827 AS) to clear the wreckage. The Minarchy took issue with the disturbance of war graves, despite warnings on the dangers posed to the planet below. Brigand vessels occasionally harass the cleanup vessels, amid rumors the Union Corse have placed a bounty on vessels taking part in the operation.
