Gjallarbru Research Station was occupied by the Red Hessians in 826 AS, after the remains of an MND deep space outpost was discovered and then salvaged. The MND are believed to have established an operation in Omega-55 around 814 AS, pursuing rumors of Rhienland's Colony War era activities. Little is known about what they discovered, however their base was abandoned by 822 AS, when Omega-11's red giant entered a period of extreme activity, destabilizing the connecting Jump Hole. Since restoring the station, the Hessians have been fiercely protective of the Groningen Nebula, aggressively repelling intruders.

Rumors abound as to what the Hessians would be researching at Gjallarbru. The most common speculation is that they use this concealed outpost to reverse-engineer stolen enemy technology, and pilfer Artifacts excavated by The Core on Planet Skagen. Nearby gravimetric anomalies also hold scientific interest, although it seems unlikely the Hessians have the academic expertise or inclination to deeply study the phenomena. Darker stories also swirl, with some whispering of prisoners being sold to Wild agents in exchange for technological secrets. The Hessians reject these tales as slanderous lies, and are quick to turn their weapons on anyone repeating them.

Since 830 AS, the Hessians have hosted a small wing of Coalition fighters who act as scouts for gauging the disposition of enemy forces across the system. Despite contributing to the station's defense, outside pilots are still strictly confined to the hangars and their quarters.

[835 AS] Bloody Skirmish in Omega-47

OMEGA-47 -- 835 -- Numerous pilots have reported a significant skirmish in Omega-47 last week. The clash took place north of the system's central star, between the Corsairs and a combined Hessian-Coalition force. The confrontation inflicted heavy losses on all sides, leaving no faction satisfied with the outcome. This marks yet another bloody chapter in the relentless struggle for dominance in the Omegas between the Corsairs and the Red Alliance. Both sides hope controlling Omega-47 will open the flanks of Omega-5, securing a final decisive victory.

[835 AS] Junker Convoy Attacked by Rheinlanders?

BORNHOLM -- 835 -- Junkers on Bornholm Station in Omega-55 have reported unusual instances of Rheinland vessels attacking their convoys. The attacks have been so devastating that no ship has survived to recount the events firsthand. The only evidence the Junkers possess are intercepted radio signals emitted shortly before the convoys were presumably destroyed or captured. An official complaint has been filed with the Rheinland government, but there has yet to be an official response.

[835 AS] Vogtland brigades drive out Corsairs

VOGTLAND -- 835 -- After three years of grinding, attritional combat, the Corsairs have broken and fled from Dresden. Vogtland’s brigades have continually intensified pressure on the Corsair position, encircling their staging ground in the Schwefelnebel. Waiting until the encirclement was almost complete, the Battlecruiser Penitence attempted to retreat. Hessian forces inflicted severe damage on the Penitence as it fled through Frankfurt, ending Corsair aspirations on our home. In recognition of our newly secured supply lines, Wolfsburg Shipyard has been ordered to lay down the keel for a worthy replacement to the Battleship Kassel.

[828 AS] Cologne Aftermath

COLOGNE – 828 AS – The siege of Planet Saarbrucken proved that the reunited might of Rheinland is a force to be reckoned with; the Hessians have largely vacated the system. In preparation for the assault, the miners turned pirate had weaponized the nearby Tholey Station to slow down the advance of the military. In order to bring a swift end to the fighting with minimal casualties the commanding officer ordered the station be neutralized rather than boarded, resulting in its destruction.

Despite the success of the Military, it seems the Hessians flagship; Battleship Kassel, has managed to escape virtually unscathed. Rumors on Heisenberg Research Station speak of Hessian prisoners taken by Corsairs and Unioners alike. It's no secret there is a lot of bad blood between these groups and the Hessians and this reporter shudders to think of what fate awaits those poor deluded criminals.

[828 AS] Hessians Flee Under Rheinlands Might!

COLOGNE – 828 AS – Under pressure from both the emperor and elected officials for a quick and decisive resolution to the ongoing Cologne crisis, the Rheinland Ministerium of Defence ordered the Altenburg battlegroup to advance onto the Red Hessian position at Planet Saarbrucken. The Red Hessians recently received additional reinforcements as it became clear the former miners planned to dig-in and would need to be uprooted from their position.

The Siege of Saarbrucken is currently underway and it has been reported that the Red Hessians have begun evacuating from the area. It is speculated however that the Red Hessians intend to make the Rheinland military suffer for every meter they take.

The Rheinland Military has offered a reward for any Red Hessians that are caught fleeing from the siege. The military has also advised caution as they have reported several other pirate groups in the area, with some claiming these groups are striking out at the Hessians. This reporter cannot help but think this situation goes to show, that there is no honour among thieves.

[733 AGS] The Way into Gallia is Open!

REUNION -- 733 AGS, 817 AS -- The Council is proud to announce that the mine fields that have concealed the existence of Gallia from the rest of the Sirius population have been breached in Orkney and Omicron Tau. This achievement has cost us decades of bloody war with Gallic government forces who rejected the rights of the Gallic nation to re-unite with the rest of humanity that escaped Sol more than eight hundred years ago.

We will welcome any ships willing to explore Gallic space and establish relations with local factions. In exchange for the passage, we ask for guarantees of neutrality towards the Council, its military and civilian personnel. We also warn that any capital ship fleets or other large military detachments will be denied passage, by force if necessary. Our goal is to prevent the war, not to encourage attacks of other Houses who might consider Gallia its enemy. Gallia is no one's enemy, and our task is to prove it. We hope that after our actions in the Gallic Border Worlds the King of Gallia will demonstrate responsibility and discretion by establishing diplomatic relations with all four Houses and by canceling plans of Sirius-wide aggression.

However, even if the relations will be established, we, the Council, will still remain sworn enemies of the Crown, and the Second Gallic Civil War will continue. Our current goal is to hold the passage in Languedoc open for everyone for as long as possible. However, the Royal Navy has assembled an overwhelming fleet in Languedoc that will soon head towards Languedoc. Our casualties has been very high during the recent years of fighting in this system, and odds to win the battles that will follow are very low. Languedoc detachments of the Council, and all civilians willing to escape the prosecution by Gallic government, will have to seek refuge in the Sirius Border Worlds. We are already looking for possible locations where we can build our bases and defensive installations.

We are also aware that Sirius space has its own unlawful factions, much like Gallic Brigands and Unione Corse in Gallia. Since our situation is complicated right now, we might seek help of those factions in order to survive and prevent unnecessary casualties. But we also realize that our equipment, ships and weaponry contain Gallic technologies that many Sirius parties are willing to appropriate. We are not trading or exchanging any of our military technologies. If any attempts to capture or attack Council personnel and ships occur, we reserve the right to retaliate with deadly force.

Rumors

Red Hessians
  • I don't know what the researchers are up to here, but I heard a few years back some scouts pulled an old Colony War era Valkyrie out of the Reykjavik Cloud. Allegedly it had an intact Rheinland Military Cloaking Device on it. I'd love to get my hands on one of those. The Corsairs wouldn't know what hit them.

  • Beats me why Vogtland wants to fund a research station this far out. I suppose it's close enough to The Coalition for supplies and support, but distant enough to be independent. Plus there are active battlefronts in Omegas 5, 41 and 47, so lots of opportunities to grab enemy wreckage and field test reverse engineered equipment. We're also remote enough that's it's easy to cover up... accidents. Maybe it does make sense...

  • Who granted you access to be here? Was it Hans? He usually checks all the newcomers to see if they're eligible to stay. You don't know Hans? Uhm... you should leave.

  • A few weeks ago my squadron had their Natterturms replaced with new, experimental cannons that the techs here have come up with. I've never seen anything like them, and the mounting assembly and power adapter is bizarre. I'm no engineer, but these weapons look like Rheinland tech spliced with something I don't recognize. I can't complain about the performance, but they make me uneasy.

  • The Coalition used to have a base in this system -- Kamchatka. Miserable place to live and serve. I visited once to resupply on patrol and that was enough. They say the station fell as a martyr for the Revolution, resisting a vicious Core onslaught. The Coalition doesn't like to admit to its failures however. I heard all the Core really did was mop up after a mutiny burned the facility to the ground.

  • There's been a Coalition scout wing parked here for a few years now, although Command is cagey about letting them wander the station. They're basically early warning for anything trying to slip into Omega-47. A Corsair fleet took us both by surprise that way back in 819 AS, and the Coalition won't give them the opportunity again.

  • The Core are working on some kind of alien ruin on Skagen. Sometimes we drop down into the atmosphere to try and snatch the overland convoys that run between their mining camps. If we're lucky and there are no interceptors nearby from Dagger, they'll dump cargo and run. If there are any Artifacts, Gjallarbru pays us very well.

  • The Red Hessians found this base, we didn't originally build it. The databanks were mostly scrubbed clean, but we're fairly sure this was an MND outpost that was abandoned. I think they were probably trying to trace Coalition raids back to their source, or maybe investigating this system's Rheinland wreckage.

  • Robot ships have started flooding into Omega-55 from 47. Mostly they head towards the Omicrons or mess with The Core, so we leave them to it. I've heard some of the researchers say they're aliens -- scares the hell out of me. We've been told to try and bring back salvage from the Drones, but I sure as hell ain't planning on starting that fight.

  • I'm not allowed to talk about what I'm working on, but hopefully it'll give us an edge over the Corsairs. What I really think we should be doing is studying the nearby anomaly. What is it? A collapsed wormhole? Imagine if we understood how to collapse wormholes manually. We'd seal the Corsairs away and crush the survivors in a few months.

  • I have to admit something - I am feeling quite lonely here. We don't get many visitors due to the secrecy of the station, and Omega-55 is as far from home as it gets. The Hessians pay me handsomely as a researcher, and I'm no longer welcome in Rheinland academia, so here I'll stay. The Omega war has no end in sight, so I doubt things will change for the better anytime soon.
