The first Crayterian outpost in Coronado, Sabah Shipyard was hastily constructed in 817 AS. Initially based on the blueprints of Singapore Shipyard, it was originally constructed with components salvaged from Tau-44 during the Republic's evacuation of that system. It provided a basic platform for facilitating the desperate colonization of Planet Yuma, as well as coordinating the temporary resettlement of the remaining Crayterian population onto Pecos. Soon after, it was further expanded to service ships of all sizes.

As the Crayter Republic's primary shipyard, Sabah is one of the busiest ports in the region. From the first drydock's completion, Sabah has operated at full capacity, repairing and producing fighters, capital ships and civilian support vessels for the refugee Republic. With the end of the Gallic War in 827 AS, the Crayter Republic finally felt secure enough to scale back military production so Sabah's facilities could be renovated, and its industrial output pivoted to accelerating Yuma's development.

While formerly the shipyard served as the prime platform for the colonization of Yuma and the resettlement of the civilian population, it now functions as the Republic's center of industry, and all civilian traffic headed to or from a Crayterian base in the system checks in with Sabah. The shipyard suffered moderate damage during the Jericho Incident in 835 AS, and operated as the central rescue point for ships disabled during the emergency. In late 835 AS, Sabah was temporarily closed to the public while a "critical project" was ongoing.

[835 AS] Interspace voids Coronado Trade Lane policy

SCOTSDALE REFINERY -- 835 -- Ageira Technologies and Deep Space Engineering have threatened to sue Interspace Commerce over an insurance dispute. Interspace provided a loss prevention policy for Coronado’s Trade Lane construction project, however the financial giant says the policy is now void. Describing the Jericho Pulse as an “act of god”, Interspace exercised force majeure clauses to deny compensation claims. Local transports caught in the blast are similarly out of pocket. Liberty itself has yet to comment on the situation, however the prospect of starting over with massively increased risk premiums has thrown the project’s future into question.

[835 AS] Coronado disaster sparks panic

YUMA -- 835 -- Public data feeds have lit up with distress calls from Coronado, after a system-wide EMP pulse wreaked havoc. Emergency requests for aid have been issued by the Crayter Republic and IMG, with early reports indicating that the system’s Trade Lane project has been destroyed. Ageira has confirmed that the Jump Gate remains unaffected thanks to post-Blackout safeguards, allowing relief to be delivered from Bretonia and Liberty. Panic erupted on many Liberty worlds after footage was released showing an energy field around the moon Jericho, seeming to indicate another activated alien site. President Hawthorne has called for calm, and reiterated that security forces were moving to contain the situation.

[835 AS] Gallic threats raise Tau fears

SCALPAY OUTPOST -- 835 -- The Taus are once more on edge, after Gallia threatens the use of force to retrieve the Tau-23 to Tau-31 Jump Gate. Bretonia constructed the first Jump Gate in the system, which was later annexed during the Gallic War. Bretonia was gifted the current Gallic Jump Gate by Kusari during their invasion of Gallia, and has held it since -- with Gallia formally ceding its Tau claims through the Treaty of Rishiri. Bretonia has historically refused to discuss the Gate’s status until its own demands on the extradition of war criminals and payment of Gallic War reparations are met. The Bretonian government has warned that Gallic aggression or threats “will not be tolerated”.

[834 AS] Independent Miners assert Jericho rights

PECOS -- 834 -- The Guild has issued a new set of ultimatums to Yuma. This time, Guildmasters are demanding that Crayter withdraw the defense grid around the moon Jericho. The miners assert the grid infringes the Guild’s claims, which they say includes exclusive rights to exploit the moon’s resources. Pecos miner Shane Harlon noted, “there’s probably a whole lot of Uranium down there, given the radiation band. If there is, it’s ours.” So far Crayter has dismissed the demands, calling the mineral claim “nonsense” and stating simply that their troops were stationed on site for “public safety”.

[834 AS] Pecos withdrawal signals bright future

PECOS -- 834 -- During the darkest days of the Gallic War, Crayter civilians were chased from their homes in Tau-44 by the invasion. The IMG agreed to lease facilities on Pecos, establishing makeshift survival camps for these refugees while colonies were built on Yuma. Yuma's development has accelerated since then, with an influx of Liberty funding allowing the Crayter Republic to finally decommission the last of the Pecos habs. Despite recent friction with the IMG, Crayter representatives stressed that the closure of these camps showcased the ‘enduring spirit of the Republic as it builds a brighter future for its citizens’.

[834 AS] IMG and Crayter relationship deteriorates

JAVA STATION -- 834 -- The Crayter Republic and Independent Miners Guild have been drawn into a fierce dispute, marking yet another low point in their tumultuous relationship. Despite limited cooperation against the Outcasts, the two groups have been mired in mutual hostility and suspicion since the Aland Crisis of 826 AS. More recently, Crayter forces attacked and destroyed an IMG refugee liner they claimed was smuggling weapons into Gallia. The Guild has called the claims “preposterous” and formally expelled all Crayter representatives from their stations. Gateway Shipping has offered Lewes Shipping Platform as a venue for mediation to try and resolve the situation.

[834 AS] Republic hosts parade on Yuma

YUMA -- 834 -- Following a valiant performance by our brave military, Operation SOARING LIBERATION has been an unqualified success. Former slaves cruelly stranded by Outcast patrols in a ghetto aboard Freeport 10 were rescued and returned to Yuma to live free lives. Once a mandatory quarantine period has passed for our guests, the President will be hosting a parade to welcome them to Crayter society, and broadcast their tales of heroism and perseverance against Outcast brutality. A charitable campaign has been launched to fund Stabiline therapy for these poor individuals, who have been shackled to Cardamine through their evil imprisonment on the Outcast homeworld.

[834 AS] IMG liner destroyed at Gallic Border

PLANET YUMA -- 834 -- During the confusion of Operation SOARING LIBERATION, our valiant border enforcement patrols recorded an illegal attempt to cross into Gallia by the Liner Nagapasa. Our pilots attempted to resolve the incident professionally, boarding the liner to inspect their cargo. The officers were then subjected to verbal abuse by the Nagapasa's crew, with one border inspector being shot in the resulting confrontation. After successfully disabling the fleeing liner, the crew were placed under arrest and the vessel's innocent passengers rescued. It is suspected that the crew were using rescued slaves as a smokescreen for smuggling prohibited goods into Gallia.

[833 AS] Liberty draws down forces in Crayter territory

YUMA -- 833 -- Liberty has announced the end of the Battlecruiser Yellowstone’s tour of Coronado, where it has spent several years targeting drug smugglers in the dangerous Barrier Pass. President Hawthorne has reportedly lost patience with indefinite foreign deployments of Liberty forces, and ordered the ship to be withdrawn to bolster domestic piracy and smuggling suppression in California. A Department of Defense spokesman stated, “we have for many years provided the Crayter Republic with the training and material support needed to police their territory. We have faith they will be up to the task”. The Yellowstone’s withdrawal comes as Deep Space Engineering deepens its own investments in Coronado, with the expansion of the Scottsdale Refinery.

[833 AS] LPI commissioner sentenced following Erie probe

PLANET ERIE -- 833 -- Helen O’Shea, Pennsylvania’s former LPI Commissioner, has been sentenced on corruption charges over the mismanagement of Erie’s planetary internment camps. The facilities were constructed to temporarily hold prisoners from the Liberty Insurgency while the courts cleared sentencing backlogs. Following allegations of human trafficking, the LSF launched a major investigation, discovering that as many as 10 percent of inmates were suspected of having been sold to traffickers. O’Shea is the latest and most high profile prosecution to date, and is expected to serve a ten year sentence at a minimum security penitentiary on Planet Los Angeles.

[831 AS] Allied forces breach Omicron Alpha

CARRIER MALACHITE -- 832 AS -- Crayter's Senate has approved the deployment of the Carrier Malachite in support of the ongoing Maltese slave rebellion. Heavy casualties have been inflicted on the expeditionary force by the Dreadnought Basilica and Malta's defense grid, however the latter has since been disabled through the valiant action of liberated slaves. IMG Guildmasters are now drafting plans for orbital drops to supply or evacuate the resistance battalions, while the Crayter military prepares to tackle the hated Basilica.

[832 AS] Outcasts bloodied in Tau-37

FREEPORT 10 -- 832 AS -- The Outcasts have suffered a blow in the Taus, after months of conflict with a coalition of BHG, Crayter and IMG forces. The intense campaign was provoked by the withdrawal of most Outcasts to their homeworld in response to a massed slave uprising. The few defenders left to hold the Bermejo Cloud have been forced to retreat, after an allied assault destroyed Genoa Base. Freeport 10's Zoners have noted that the trickle of Cardamine shipments through the system seem to have now ceased altogether. An anonymous Crayter commander has declared they intend to breach Omicron Alpha and "burn the plantations to the ground."

[831 AS] Gate corps clash over 'Blackout'!

ABBEVILLE -- 831 AS -- EFL's 'Resilience Taskforce' today reported its findings on The Blackout, claiming to have gathered forensic evidence that proved the cause as Ageira negligence. A spokesperson claimed that the destruction of the Dublin Jump Gate by Molly separatists had created a hyperspace feedback loop that was propagated and amplified through the Ageira gate network.

Ageira disputed this finding in their own press release, calling EFL 'fantasists' and countering that their own scientists had narrowed the cause to a rare 'hypernova' stellar event that originated outside the Sirius sector. Both corporations claim that network-wide hardware safeguards have been implemented that would prevent a similar occurrence in the future. Independent researchers have sharply criticized the corporate announcements, accusing both of self-interested misdirection.

Professor Sophia Nagel from Heisenberg Research Station called EFL's accusation 'incoherent' and the hypernova explanation 'nonsense' that did not explain the characteristics of the 'Blackout Pulse'. Despite multiple different Pulse recordings being widely disseminated across the neural net, public efforts have so far failed to triangulate its source.

[831 AS] Slave uprising on Malta

JAVA STATION -- 831 AS -- A slave rebellion on Planet Malta has sent shockwaves through the region. The Independent Miners Guild quickly requested weapons, supplies, and ships to support a daring plan to smuggle arms to the embattled slaves. Within a week of the IMG's call, the Crayter Republic dispatched an expeditionary force to render aid, with support from Bounty Hunter mercenaries. The Allied force is intent on driving the Outcasts out of Tau-37, breaching Outcast defenses surrounding Planet Malta, and assisting the revolutionaries in toppling the Outcast regime.

[831 AS] Pulse phenomenon linked to Blackout

AMES RESEARCH STATION -- 831 -- Independent researchers have announced that a hyperspace pulse of unprecedented strength was detected moments before The Blackout, destroying many of the sector’s most sensitive and finely tuned observatories. Surviving data about 'The Pulse' has been widely shared across the neural net in recent days, prompting mass speculation. Professor Katsuma Oster of Ames Research Station described the signal as “astounding”. “These readings are unprecedented, as if reality itself were struck like a gong.” House authorities have remained tight lipped, refusing to share their own observatories' data.

[831 AS] 'Blackout' causes jump network failure

MANHATTAN -- 831 AS -- Two days ago Jump Gates failed simultaneously across Sirius, freezing commerce and neural net access across the sector. When communications resumed 31 hours later, the news broke of Bretonia's loss of the Dublin system. This twin shock has plunged markets into chaos, prompting fears of sector-wide economic recessions. Interspace estimates that the stoppage alone caused billions of credits in losses. Gallia immediately accused Liberty of causing the outage, claiming the destruction of Dublin's Jump Gate instigated a cascading failure in faulty Ageira infrastructure. Ageira has sharply refuted the allegation, claiming such a systemic effect would be physically impossible.

[830 AS] Liberty annexes Planet Erie

PLANET ERIE -- 830 -- The Liberty Navy has launched Operation PESTICIDE to annex Pennsylvania, following the collapse of talks between Liberty and Zoner authorities. President Hawthorne declared that Liberty could no longer tolerate a "lawless frontier" within its very core, and that the Zoners had repeatedly refused to extradite criminals and terrorists from the Pennsylvania protectorate. The recent destruction of an LSF satellite was the straw that broke the camel's back. Militias congregating around Planet Erie were routed following the Zoner Carrier Pinnacle’s destruction. The Battleship Alma then secured Erie’s orbit and landed Marines to impose Liberty law on Lake City. Surviving militants have vowed to resist Erie’s occupation.

[830 AS] Trouble in paradise on Erie

PLANET ERIE -- 830 AS -- Since the destruction of Williamstown Depot near Planet Tremont, Liberty and Erie's autonomous Zoner government have been locked in a standoff. Liberty has long suspected the Insurgency attack on its logistics station was facilitated by informants on Erie, and has accused the Zoners of allowing Insurgency and Xeno operatives to roam the planet with "impunity". This morning, a missile streaked from Erie's wilderness, shooting down an orbiting LSF satellite that had been tracking "terrorist activities". Liberty has accused Zoner militias of the attack, and ordered Erie authorities to hand over the perpetrators, and all Insurgency affiliates. Zoners have denied responsibility, calling the attack a “Liberty false flag”.

[828 AS] Harris conference mends wounds

PLANET HARRIS -- 828 -- Delegates from Bretonia, Kusari and the Crayter Republic have met on Planet Harris, announcing the ratification of the Harris Treaty. Kusari and Crayter had come to blows the previous year, after the KNF militarily evicted Republic forces from Tau-31. Despite this, it appears the three parties have found common cause in their mutual mistrust of the newly formed Gallic Union. Despite historic grievances, each has tentatively agreed to come to one another’s aid in the event of a conflict with Gallia in the Taus, while also guaranteeing military and economic access to Tau-23.

Rumors

Crayter Republic
  • Sabah was established under difficult conditions during the Gallic War. We scaled up the shipyard remarkably quickly to keep our military going, but that came at a cost -- literally. Much of the project was underwritten by Liberty who wanted an ally securing their flank in the Independent Worlds. Paying off our war debts will take decades.

  • There's supposedly a consortium of Yuma investors who are considering approaching DSE with a buy-out offer for Scottsdale. Marked down for the recent damage, of course. The DSE technicians I've talked to don't seem to want to be here, but who knows what their board wants?

  • Every day there are more and more Libertonians aboard. DSE "consultants", Universal Shipping muscling in on local contracts. Even Synth Foods has been sniffing around. The President says this is a sign of prosperity, but it feels like a tightening leash.<PARA />

  • The Treaty of Harris in 827 offered the Republic respite for the first time in a decade. First the Gallic War, then Kusari's treacherous assault. Sabah has finally been able to scale back work shifts and pivot to producing the transports our economy needs. Unfortunately, these vessels are too expensive to compete with Kusari on export markets, and our merchant fleet is facing extreme pressure from Universal Shipping.

  • The Crayter Republic does not descend from the same Sleeper Ships as the Houses. Our ancestors departed Sol aboard the Gemini and Orion. These prototype Alliance vessels launched during the Lunar Conflicts, heading for the Crayter System with a grand vision to prove interstellar colonization was possible. Our success proved to Alliance leaders that the exodus to Sirius was possible.

  • For years there were rumors of Rheinland vessels spotted in the Barrier. Sailor's tales, people projecting old memories of the Colony Wars -- or so we thought. It turns out there were indeed monsters hiding in those asteroids, and the Republic bears the scars of those lost putting a stop to them.

  • The Republic was near driven to extinction when Gallia conquered Tau-44. Sabah was built to repair and modernize the fleet at any cost. Bretonia sent advisors from BMM to get us into the fight quickly. They certainly deserve their reputation as brutal taskmasters, but they got the job done. The shipwrights killed in the drydocks are just as much war heroes as the pilots who fell in Cortez or Tau-31 -- they saved the Republic.

  • Before Gallia forced us out of the Taus, DSE had surveyed Coronado and was constructing a Docking Ring at Yuma. While unfortunate for Liberty, the destruction of DSE's Armstrong expedition was a near miraculous stroke of luck for our people. Without Yuma, we would have been forced to continue retreating into Liberty, and ceased to be an independent state.

  • When the Crayter remnants first arrived in Sirius, our ships were utterly obsolete. Even accounting for the centuries spent hibernating during the evacuation from Crayter, Sirian materials science was shocking. With the help of the IMG, we were able to retrofit our vessels with open market hull plating and propulsion, but Sabah was the first opportunity for our engineers to fully re-imagine our native designs to integrate Sirian technologies. The early Gallic War was an incredibly harsh awakening.

  • Sabah is the birthplace of most of the Crayter fleet. The Gallic War inflicted a heavy toll on us, between the evacuation of Tau-44, and the campaigns to drive the Royal Navy out of the Independent Worlds and the Taus. Sabah's drydocks worked around the clock for 8 full years to keep the Republic fighting. Here, outdated Crayter designs were retrofitted or replaced with a second generation that fully harnessed Sirian technology.

  • Sabah is an iconic facility for the Republic -- every schoolchild can sketch it from memory. It was Sabah that put the Crayter fleet back in the fight during the Gallic War, and it was Sabah that supported the colonization of Yuma. Even today, Sabah is where seasteads and habitation blocks are prefabricated for deployment.<PARA />

  • Sabah took some damage during the Jericho Incident -- mostly electronics, although we were spared the worst of it by distance. Scottsdale is doing badly, and the Oizys was orbiting the moon and took the full brunt. Patching her up is going to be a difficult job. Nearly every subsystem is fried.

Universal Shipping
  • The Cuyamel was forced to moor here for repairs, after she was struck by the Jericho Incident. She's a bulk freighter, and central to Universal's strategy of dominating local trade and forcing open markets. While we're out of pocket on insurance for the repairs, the contracts here are profitable enough for us to stomach the ongoing risk. If we ease off now, we give the Crayter shipping we've been squeezing room to breath.

  • Universal has a significant interest in this station -- Sabah is the most prominent industrial center of the Crayter Republic. Our transports supply many of the imported components they need for shipbuilding, including Superconductors from Colorado and Optical Chips from California. Crayter's own traders can't compete with Universal on cost, so with each tendered contract we strengthen our grip.

  • Liberty initially had plans to expel Crayter from Yuma after they effectively stole an intact Docking Ring. DSE's docking ring, for Liberty's planned colony. Of course, Crayter then proved to be a useful ally during the Gallic War and racked up war debts that will run for generations. Now we're reaping the benefits of their toil. Why grow the Synth crop when you can simply have the Paste?
