Coming soon, we will be implementing a revised Interspace Commerce ID. This will read as follows:
Interspace ID Wrote:This Liberty Corporate ID is used by employees of Interspace Commerce, who:
Can attack Lane Hackers.
Can engage in piracy against competitors outside of House Space.
Cannot use Cruisers, Battlecruisers, Battleships, or ships with more than 3,600 cargo space, except the Renzu Liner.
Within Zone of Influence (Systems containing a Sirius Trade Lane):
Can attack ships considered hostile by Interspace.
Can attack competitors outside of House Space.
Can engage in piracy against non-Gallic Corporate ships, except for cargo.
This Liberty Corporate ID is used by employees of Interspace Commerce, who:
- Can attack Lane Hackers.
- Can engage in piracy against competitors outside of House Space.
- Cannot use Cruisers, Battlecruisers, or Battleships.
Within Zone of Influence (Systems containing a Sirius Trade Lane):
- Can attack ships considered hostile by Interspace.
- Can attack competitors outside of House Space.
- Can demand credits from Corporate ships outside of House Space.
The expanded piracy line (without the house space restriction!) is intended to represent the leverage Interspace holds over (Sirian) corporations as an insurance and loan provider, and financier of gates and lanes, to demand additional fees or roleplay demands, such as forcing a trader to accept paid escort services as loss prevention. The cargo restriction is to clarify that IC is not intended to be played as a bulk shipping ID.
Normally ID changes like this aren't announced in advance, but since the ID also includes a drop in cargo capacity to 3 600, this announcement is to give players a chance to switch IDs or ships.
The changes will go live one week from now, on the server restart of July 19th. At that point, any Interspace ship exceeding the cargo limit will be given a complementary Universal Shipping ID.
The developing situation in the Omicrons has already cost an untold amount of human lives, and put the very future in question in the minds of the local residents. But for those whole call House space their home, the problem is simpler: the sudden lack of alien imports. After the first refugee ships started arriving from Zeta, canny smugglers made a run on existing supplies, with some sitting on their stock, and some cashing out immediately. What followed was a predictable shortage of alien relics, as all parties involved busied themselves with the various warlike developments. With Liberty and Kusari gearing up for a potentially prolonged conflict, this scarcity could not have come at a worse time for both Houses.
The lack of confidence in steady supply lines has forced Core shareholders to demand an urgent retooling of company priorities. With the Kappa situation at least partially stabilized, it was time to move their Omicron assets to secure the now-lucrative alien relic market. Incentives were developed for all types of operations: extraction, transportation, and security were all part of one coherent package which would ensure the continued prosperity of Liberty-based shareholders. To compete with the Libertonian pipeline, Kusari has chosen to enlist veteran Hogosha smugglers, who could be relied upon to provide their own convoys. These individuals also had the necessary contacts to ensure that the provided incentives trickled down to the Corsair extraction groups who have continuously operated out of Delta. With access being tight and the sources of the relics limited, a heightening of hostilities was all but unavoidable.
An even greater danger to both Liberty and Kusari-bound elements was not posed by their competitors, but by the re-positioned Order patrols. With Zeta completely lost and Mu secured for the immediate future with the destruction of the Hakodate, more forces could now be spared for alien artifact interdiction. With the nomads breathing down everyone's neck, it was only a matter of time until an unlucky shipment got caught and infected, potentially leading to a whole new Nomad war, and this could not be allowed to occur. Ironically, the same shipments which have attracted the Order's concern also interested the local Outcast operatives, but for a completely different reason. With Malta regaining its reputation as a player in local affairs, influential Dons could again pay top credit for any recovered intact shipments. While some have discussed establishing their own extraction operations, most have agreed that their crews would do what they did best: prey on fools who skimped on security.
DETAILS
Xeno Relics
These powered alien artifacts are suddenly in great demand! All factions with a mining bonus get a 33% increase as specialists are deployed to the source of the relics.
With exorbitant prices paid by the Liberty and Kusari military-industrial complex, delivering to these houses will earn eligible haulers substantial bonuses to offset the risk of the trip.
Malta is happy to pay respectable sums for any "liberated" materials, or those extracted from independent operations.
The Core; destination: Norfolk Shipyard, New York - buying for $550 & 700 config bonus; source: piracy + Grootegeluk Depot
Hogosha; destination: Kure Shipyard, New Tokyo - buying for $500 & 550 config bonus; source: piracy + Puerto del Sol, Roupeli Outpost
Outcasts; destination: Planet Malta - buying for $500 & 550 config bonus (not active due to no PoBs); source: piracy
To register a pob, simply reply here with its name - it must be located in the Omicrons. Registered POBs MUST be open to the relevant ids, with the min stock always set to zero.
Piracy is not tracked via the config, which means you do not get the config bonus for pirated goods.
The trade config will be active every 6 hours, for two one-hour intervals. If you don't make these windows, you won't get the config bonus.
Combat Incentives
All factions will earn points for killing ships of other factions.
The combat config will be active 24/7 for the duration of the event.
Any faction which wants to be added to either config needs to provide substantial RP that fits in with the overall situation.
Rule Changes:
Trade ships carrying Xeno Relics and docking during a hostile player encounter are considered to have been "killed".
Core and Outcast IDs have the following temporary line added to them: - Can demand Xeno Relics within the Omicrons.
The Hogosha ID ZOI has been temporarily expanded into the Omicrons.
Rewards:
Custom Title
Requires participation in the event and an inrp write-up from your character's POV.
Codenames
Requires at least 6 player kills. Can select any combination from the list below:
Faction Rewards
Kills by tagged ships on the config will be summed, allowing people to request various asset, mechanical, and/or flavor rewards. Faction leaders should pm @Barrier with the final details. All faction rewards require inrp write-ups from the relevant faction, and accumulation of event points in relation to the magnitude of the reward.
Factions currently eligible for this reward (must be on the tracker and have an info page by event end): DTR- / [TBH] / Sails|, <|>, <ARM>, E\V/ / Order| / 34th|, HS>
Character Rewards
Established characters have access to a "lesser" version of the above faction reward, and will be placed on an allied config. Players should pm @Barrier to figure out the final details. You are encouraged to register your character in-advance, but this is only necessary if you want to be added to a config.
Characters currently eligible for this reward (must be named and have existed for at least two months by event end): TBA
Please reply if the total among all of your characters makes you eligible for the codename reward. Players from the same faction may pool points together to get a better reward.
Eligible factions scored the following points below. These are relevant as a general sense of faction involvement in the event. Faction leaders should pm @Barrier to discuss any ship, credit, RP, story, or tech-exemption rewards. Just a reminder that all faction rewards require extensive RP by the faction.
DTR- = 2
[TBH] = 4
Sails| = 1
<|> = 1 & 51400 units of Relics
<ARM> = 6
E\V/ = 2
Order| = 1
34th| = 24 (reward requested: 2 mil per kill)
HS> = 3
No established characters indicated interest in the event.
Today we’re announcing something a little different: the introduction of @Storytellers.
Storytellers are players who have been given access to a number of server commands and asked to operate as Game Masters (in the DnD sense, not the 2020 Discovery sense). These are people who were noticed because of their passionate and wholesome approach to the game, and we’re very much looking forward to seeing what they do with these tools!
If you are familiar with Entity and the stories they’ve told, you will already understand some of the capabilities these Storytellers will have. The intention is that they will be running roleplay arcs through spontaneous events and interactions that are not forecast in advance through the forum. These can involve a blend of in-game and forum RP (and you may have noticed some new red NPC forum accounts already!).
Many of these events are intended to provide a more personal, character-oriented “slice of life” roleplay experience than official server events generally provide. As a result, these arcs will often be improvisation heavy rather than scripted, progressing based on who is present and how players interact with the Storyteller.
To help this system work effectively, the server has also enabled Onboarding. This allows users to opt into roles, including the @Event Shenanigans role. This will grant you access to #event-notifications.
When a Storyteller is about to begin an encounter, they will drop a `@here` ping for people who are online, and make a Universe announcement via the console in-game.
Please note that Storytellers are not server staff, and so shouldn’t be contacted about rules issues, story development, or associated issues (please continue to harass Administrators or Developers for those!).
Our new Storytellers can introduce themselves here if they want to - unless they want things to be a surprise!
This is a quick PSA to set out staff's view on the use of AI generated content. This is a deeply controversial issue online - especially in roleplay communities like this one, where the use of generated content is often seen as low effort, and demeaning of other player's contributions.
We're adding an extra item to the server rules to address this:
(02-04-2007, 02:31 PM)Discovery Community Forum and Server Rules Wrote: 1.1.3 - Generating roleplay or posts through a prompt to AI writing tools is not allowed. These tools can be used to proof-read or edit a post you have written, but not to create roleplay wholesale. AI generated images must not be distracting or low quality, i.e. containing warped text, obviously incorrect human biology, or prominent generation artifacts.
We appreciate that many people are not confident in their English skills, and use AI to proofread or edit their posts. This rule does not impact that kind of use. The roleplay in those situations is still written by you, and continues to have your distinctive style and voice as an author.
What is not acceptable is outlining what you want in a prompt and having an AI generate the text for you. It is often very obvious when this has been done, as most large language models write in a very distinctive style and have particular "tells".
In cases where the origin of text is ambiguous, staff will err towards the benefit of the doubt. Despite that, clearly AI generated text will be removed going forward. Applications for SRPs or other rewards that rely on generated text will be refused immediately.
The use of AI generated images is acceptable, within reason. This means the images should not be distracting or immersion breaking. Examples of this include images that include heavily distorted nonsense text or pictures of humans with incorrect physiology (too many hands/fingers, etc). If it looks obviously wrong, do not use it.
If you have any questions about this policy, please ask in this thread.
